• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Headlight bulb

We are touring across country and have a headilght out. Can someone please let me know the number for the bulb. I could dismantle it to get the number but then I would have to reassemble it to go to the auto parts store. I presume that it is a standard bulb which I can get from a store and that I don't need to go to a dealer.

Thank you in advance.

Bulbs..!!

manual has the part numbers but most are using the H7 single filament bulbs. Don't know about the 14's. You can also get brighter ones while your changing one you could do both. I use the xenon non hid type $29.95 a pair...

I don't think so, not for the RT anyway. The OEM are 9005/HB3 single filament. Remember this long discussion earlier this week? http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/...HTS-IN-THE-NEW-RT-ARE-H-4&highlight=headlight

I think H7 are used in non-US/Canada bikes. H7 bulbs have connector tabs straight out the end of the bulb and metal base. HB3 have a right angle plastic connector. Maybe the GS and RS models use H7s.

My apologies, our machine is a 2011 RT and the headlights are standard. I just need to replace the faulty bulb.

Not having a 2011, I can't say with any certainty. I have a 2014, and it uses a 9005/HB3 bulb, but I certain previous models used a different bulb. I would really want someone that has/had a 2011 RT to confirm for sure, because if the owner's manual for the 2011 is anything like the one for the 2014, the information in it is wrong. I googled it for you, but came up empty. :dontknow:

A belated thank you to all who replied, especially WasWinger who gave me the information which I needed. For the record I confirm that the OEM headlight bulb in my 2011 RT is a 9005.
