• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

HAVING C.B. INSTALLED ON 2014 RT LIMITED QUESTION??

Good job, Steve. Glad it's working nicely for you.

Have you experimented with this Preferences setting ?

I'm still not able to detect any difference in the various ± settings.

No, however, my wife says her intercom volume is extremely loud. I am almost whispering. The settings are two bars and she has the grip volume settings, which doesn't come into play with the intercom, all the way down. I can hardly hear her with the intercom volume set at two bars. I was going to try those preference headset settings on the next ride.

I could be wrong, but I think it's actually kind of misnamed. I believe the % setting sets the ratio of volume between front and rear headset. You won't hear the difference in the front headset but you will in the rear. Take it to both extremes leaving the volume setting on the CB screen the same and see if it doesn't change the rear volume. The passenger volume control may control the non-intercom volume only also, I don't know. But I do know the passenger volume control does change the volume of the rear headset. I just don't know for what all modes it does. There is an optional cable for the passenger with volume control but that may affect non intercom volume only. That may be one reason why all seven leads to the rear headset connector are connected into the CB radio, but only five of the leads for the front headset are.

I don't know if it was the new CB radio or the additonal grounding and I really don't care. My CB worked 100 times better than my CB on my '10 RT. In the Mt Baldy mountain roads it reached from 1/8 to 1/4 mile. On the freeway/interstate it reached about 1/2 mile, maybe more, ran into a lot of traffic. WOW!

The CB/Intercom System was finally installed Thursday. I also did the additional grounds and snap RF chokes that SpongeBob recommended. I haven't had a chance to test the CB, but my wife and I did test out the intercom on a ride today. This is how it went:

Col. Jessep: It's that simple. Are we clear?
Lt. Kaffee: Yes sir.
Col. Jessep: ARE WE CLEAR?
Lt. Kaffee: Crystal.

The intercom was amazingly clear, CRYSTAL clear in fact. Extremely happy with the new BRP CB/Comm System. Nothing like my CB/Comm on my old '10 RT.

what extra grounds and RF chokes? I am trying to figure out if I can put the J and M I already have onto a 2014

WIRED C.B.AND INTERCOM

Steve, I bet it will work but remember you will also need the comm/entertainment harness. Be prepaired to remove a lot off Tupperware!

Bob

Had my system installed the other day, complete c.b. and had machine wired for intercom(hard).Yes,the whole rear of machine had to come off, along with the sde panels. It sure seems to work pretty good at this time, only longer time/trips will be the real test. I also had the phone intergration cable installed at the same time which alows me to answer and talk on the phone thru my headsets thru the gps.something I really don't need but my wife thinks it's fantastic. Oh and buy the way I have the new upgraded c.b. and it comes in loud and clear(atleast according to one of my buddies that rides a G/W anyway) so hopefully that will help cure the issues the rest of you guys have out there.RIDE SAFE @ RIDE FAR-MAD MAC!:ohyea:

DEALER INSTALLED C.B. AND WIRED INTERCOMS

Are you going to install the harnesses or have a dealer do it?

I would love to have detailed pictures of the connectors especially the one that goes into the radio.

Bob

Took dealer approx. 4 hrs. to install c.b. and intercom for rider and passenger. This was by a BRP trianed tech. The complete rear of the machine has to come off, side panels, glove box,and seat. C.B. has very detailed installation instructions. Am very happy so far with the performance.time will tell. RIDE SAFE AND RIDE FAR!:doorag:

I had a CB on my 2010 RT and never did get the darn thing to work well .I have a 2014 ordered with the CB and hope I have better luck this time . I will take this to a radio shop and have the antenna matched to the CB this time.

If you have the stock antenna from Spyder 2014, you can't tune it as far as I can tell. it's not adjustable. If that's true, it would be one of the dumbest things for any bike maker to do!

I think it can be if you're willing to cut the cover off it and unspiral and cut the wire. It is top loaded. Of course, if you cut too much off you can't reverse the change!
