There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. HAVING C.B. INSTALLED ON 2014 RT LIMITED QUESTION??

Buying 2014 limited and new to the BLUETOOTH ordeal and was wondering if the C.B. is also going to work w/BLUETOOTH also.Have to change my two helmets and my wifes over from wired headsets(GOLDWING) to BLUETOOTH style.just d/n want to waste the money on C.B. for intra bike communication if it's not going to work.thanks for help on this matter.:f_spider:

The BRP documentation states that the CB needs to be disconnected to install the bluetooth dongle. So it is one or the other not both. If you are going with wireless headsets anyway, just get the same brand as everyone in your group and 4 of them can be paired together.

C.B. BLUETOOTH QUESTION

At the present time I only have acouple of guys I ride with and they use C.B.'s also for bike to bike com.(GOLDWINGS). Wife made me give up two wheelers for the time being due to knee re-construction from dirt bike accident. Giving SPYDER a go. Thanks for the info.

you'll never go back! In time, you'll thank your wife. Welcome aboard.

The 2014 accessories catalog states the BRP CB is for 2013 and prior RT models, even though the 2014 RT has a PTT button. I want to buy another CB for this bike. I emailed, then called and talked to BRP Spyder support and they could not verify if the PTT button is useless on the 2014 RT or it was a catalog misprint. Basically, "I don't know if it will or not". So I guess someone will just have to buy CB, install it, and then see if it works. Not happy about this at all. I had the CB on our 2010 and loved it. Not happy at all with the lack of an answer on this issue.

I'm hoping to be able to put a CB on my 2014 when it comes in. I put it on the order list so now its a waiting game. One way or another I will have a CB on it even if it means after market.

I had a CB on my 2010 RT and never did get the darn thing to work well .I have a 2014 ordered with the CB and hope I have better luck this time . I will take this to a radio shop and have the antenna matched to the CB this time.

CB is mandatory for me to purchase a Spyder 2014 RT. At this point it would require me to go wired headset.

Currently riding a 2 wheeler with Sena SMH10 headset and SR10 connected to a portable CB. This works fine. A bit clumsy with wiring tho (PTT is a weak wire but it can be extended) and running to a tank bag with the radio in it. I have been hoping that SENA finds a way to connect the Can Am CB to the SR10. Then use it with the current SM10 dongle and the SMH10 headset. It's probably a pipe dream.

The only problem with going wired is my wife's insistence on listening to her own music and not mine (and vice versa). This is easily accomplished with Bluetooth headsets.

I am awaiting the current reviews of the 2014 with a CB. Good luck on your search.

:popcorn::bbq::bbq::dg1::dg2: It will be interesting to find out the correct answer ! I really enjoy using my CB on my 201o RT S. The new J&M Cb Antenna upgrade was a very good. Stevedfive was very helpful and knowledgeable answering all of my questions. Thanks again Stevedfive :firstplace:

Its frustrating for sure. I do not want to use a Bluetooth communication system. I just want to buy a BRP wired CB and Communication System and install it on my 2014 RT if its available. The 2014 Operators Guide states it is an option and has a section on the use of the PTT button on the CB (page 23). But the 2014 Riding Gear and Accessories Catalog states the wired CB and Communication System is for 2013 RT and prior (page 69). The BRP Can-am Spyder RT Build-it website states it is an option for $824.99. But the dealer says it uses the 2014 Riding Gear and Accessories Catalog and recommend that I don't buy one until they can confirm it will work on the 2014s. They called BRP and a case was opened.

What gives? Is the 2014 Operators Guide wrong? Why is there a PTT button, if there is no wired CB and Communication System available for the 2014 RT? Is the 2014 Riding Gear and Accessories Catalog wrong in its print? And why doesn't anyone have an answer?

Fastfraser just ordered a 2014 RT-S with a CB/Comm system. The dealer is going to install it for him. I think the 2014 Accessory catalog is a miss print. I cannot see BRP keeping a useless PTT button the a brand new redesigned 2014 RT. That just does not make sense. I can see BRP trying to improve the wired CB/Comm system because the current system has so many issues. A lot of other bikes use a wired system so I cannot see BRP not having a wired system to compete with the other bikes.

Steve, I bet it will work but remember you will also need the comm/entertainment harness. Be prepaired to remove a lot off Tupperware!

As far as the CB option on the 2014 it is available, but it is also a different radio than the 2013. Here is the oem item number for that option. #214400532. I'm thinking that the 2013 and older CB radio's will not work on the 2014. Hope this helps. Got the info from BRP... Bob

BRP contacted me by E-mail and said that the c.b. will not work with BLUETOOTH system.

It's because they don't make a combined harness to the radio.

But I bet you a dollar if you wire the 3 audio out pins that the BT dongle cable uses to the CB harness, you can have both!

I would buy all the harness and look how to do it but I have no need to waste the money on something I wont be using. If someone is willing to take close up pictures of the entertainment / comm harness plug that plugs into the radio module (not the CB module) I can better know if it can be added.

Bob
