• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Have The Spyderfest 2018 Hotels Been Announced

Now that Len's video is up, there's been guessing about hotels(Courtyard by Marriott & LaQuinta-sold out)) on other posts. When you click on SPYDERFEST on the 2018 EVENTS page, the 2017 Spyderfest page comes up with the old lodging options. Just wondering if I've missed the 2018 info???? If not when will the official MOGANG posting come out???? Len's video made it sound like the lodging info was going to be out right away.
Impatiently Awaiting,
Mike

Facebook is fine for those who use it; but, it'd be helpful if the details at the SpyderLover's event page could be straightened out (http://www.lamonstergarage.com/news/2018-spyder-and-motorcycle-events/).

Is it Springfield or somewhere else? April or May? The Courtyard or another hotel?

This is not a complaint for I'm grateful to ALL our VOLUNTEER event coordinators ("Been there, done that"). Just someone wanting to organize my own Spring '18 calendar during these hibernation-months.

My understanding is that we will have a lot more information before the end of this day from Len regarding hotels and hosts and dates

the info will be posted here and on Facebook

I called the Courtyard by Marriott this afternoon after reading other posts here. Their rate is ONLY good for the event dates and the base event rate is: $122.00/night. It's already been posted elsewhere that the LaQuinta is SOLD OUT, so I didn't inquire about their rates.

The Laquinta has rooms blocked and available for Spyderfest, call them at 417 447-4466

This number is for one of the host hotels (the LaQuinta ) on north airport in Springfield

I just booked at LaQuinta for May 1-6. But I'm waiting for the other two hotels to be announced. There's a well-rated Comfort Inn in Bolivar at a lower rate. I wonder if that will be one of the host places.

We booked at the Days Inn on Sunshine St. near Campbell. It's a more reasonable rate than the two mentioned, and lots to do right around it. We'll be close enough to go hang out at the two mentioned.

LaQuinta still had rooms available

You will be pretty far from the evening activities if you stay in Bolivar.

Well....just got a call from the hotel we were booked at for Spyderfest 2018. She told me they will not be operating at that time....(Days Inn on Sunshine, near the BassPro Complex) What the hell does that mean? Rats, now I gotta find a new place to sleep. Has anyone heard what the other two host hotels will be. I know the Courtyard and the LaQuinta, but what are the other two host hotels?

A word of recommendation.

Communication is of utmost importance. Many have grown accustomed to being informed about everything since the inception of the Fest. Lately, it does not seem that way.

Facebook is not an option for many who are regulars on SL. Myself included.

Took matters into my own hands and just used Google Maps to find a nearby hotel. Booked our room at a Best Western Plus nearby for $80/night. The Fest was all abuzz a few weeks ago, now everyone has fallen off the map about it. I suppose it is a ways out....LOL...

Also best Western

Just booked. Asked on FB about budget friendly host hotels and got no response.
I suppose they are waiting to announce them after the others are sold out.
We decided not to wait.
Maybe the Best Western airport will be an (un)official host hotel.

Best Western 4 me

Yup Best Western 4 me too. I'd rather spend $$$ on some extra Farkles then an overpriced room. This will be my 1st year. Can't wait...

I agree about FB and also needing more information

I totally agree with those others who have also stated that they do NOT do FaceBook and I hope that MoGang and Len realize that not everyone agrees with FB and social media. Surely they will keep the rest of us informed. I too would like to know more about hotels, events, or just thoughts from MoGang. I know they are busy I know it's only the first of January but we are trying to make a decision on attending or not this year. We never had issues at the Holiday Inn there on Glenstone. Not sure what to do or where to go but certainly do not want to pay high hotel bills, for 6 days. But do understand the risks and past experiences. Also understand the dealership is moving and also dealing with Bolivar but information and insight would be helpful. They need to be more vocal on the Spyderfest.com site as far as what you are getting for the registration fee etc., Hope they also update their website information for their new location etc. Just my two cents worth! Thanks! ;)
