• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Has to be a better way to mount the mirrors.

Read all the posts and watched all the vids, especially Lamonsters on removing and re-installing the mirrors. Left side, although difficult came off and was re-installed OK. Right side , thought I was going to break my hand getting it off and re-installing it well...never happened. :gaah:

Looks to me like the clip attached to the mirror is damaged. It appears that there should be a ridge on the upper hole that slides over the post. I can see where it was but is pretty much gone. Thus top of mirror won't hook in.

Has to be a better way to mount these mirrors. Perhaps I'll work on a fabrication in the future. In the meantime guess I'll ride with one mirror until dealer can get me the clip for the mirror.

Agree..!!

and I'm sure there is but brp seems to feel this is best. They have had it for a while. Search the threads there have been some interesting mods to the system..

Sorry. Couldn't resist

I can certainly understand why BRP wanted a "toolless" design...
I do agree, that it's time to take a more serious look the this approach, and the options...

I actually did a search last night at another members suggestion and saw your thread . Great idea, and I will do something similar. Thanks.

:gaah:......Sorry I didn't read your entire post........There was another member here who had the same issue as yours and made a metal ( stainless steel ) re-placement for the upper SLIDE-ON CLIP.......sorry but I don't know who or where it is :dontknow:........Mike ............After doing His , I would do mine to prevent any issues in the future

After sleeping on it, I figured just getting a new OEM clip would not make me happy long term, so....

Fabricated 3 clips, the top one is essentially vertical, the two on bottom are approx. 90 degrees.

Took some tweaking but mirror now slides over the top bracket and the bottom brackets are level with bottom of mirror trim. The tweaking allows the two bottom brackets to fit inside an existing slot in the mirror. I carefully drilled a small pilot hole (after measuring three times) through the black trim on the bottom of the mirror up through the bottom bracket. I then used a small self tapping screw with a large neoprene faced metal washer to secure the mirror.

Screw cannot be seen unless u bend down and look under the mirror and is nice and secure. Also - removed the 3 clip plates from the inside of the mirror that are no longer needed.

Perhaps not the most elegant solution but it works for me.

LOL, no Bob, but does seem to me that BRP could, would be simpler than those spring clips and just as cost effective, probably more so as you also would not need those three (I presume they are stainless steel) posts.

 Are you considering going into production with this fix?? nojoke

NICE JOB

.....I suspect BRP is following the LAW on this one ....namely the Spyder is required to have ........" BREAK-AWAY MIRRORS " ........We on the other hand   .....well you get the picture :cus:.......:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:......Mike

I think this is a good idea but I'm having trouble following it without seeing what the mirror looks like.
And how do you secure the mirrors.
Thanks in advance

MAYBE LOOK AT HIS PICS AND MINE ?????

......................................................................He posted pics ........The only thing you would see on the mirror is two holes on the bottom side where He drilled holes for the screws............If I had seen HIS solution I would have used the front OEM bolt to secure my cilp instead of " riveting it " to the plastic .....His way allows you to remove it so you can drill an accurate hole after you mark it from underneath ( make the hole in the bottom of the mirror first ) .....Do you follow my thought on this ?????.......Mike

Mike is correct.

Breakaway mirrors are law? :hun: Why, you will hit the front wheels before you ever hit a mirror. 2 wheelers and cages don't have breakaway mirrors.
