There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Has anyone used a 'Thru the dipstick' 12v Oil extractor on a Spyder?

Has anyone used a “thru the dipstick oil extractor” to change their oil on a F3L I’ve changed mine once the normal way, I was just wondering if this would work!

It always pays to Search first, before starting a new thread (only do check the dates on their opening post and the most recent posts in them before replying!)

There's this thread:

And this thread:

And I suspect a bunch more posts all explaining why using one of those suckers on a remote reservoir dry sump engine like those our Spyders have is just NOT a great idea!! But it's your Spyder, so if you really want to... 😖

Oil Extraction From The Dipstick.

So that everyone is perfectly aware about this 'Oil Change'.
The BRP 1300 Engine has several different oil compartments.
This makes for a very poor way to get oil out.
So the 'Better Way' is to remove the correct drain plugs.

Then let the oil drain. If you follow the instructions you will
Do It Right.

As a side note:
Cars and Trucks have a oil pan mounted on the
bottom of the engine. So 'Sucking' Oil out can be done.
But you will be leaving some dirty particulars and oil.
So I would not do that. Just remove the Oil Pan Drain Plug.
Then let the oil drain out.

Allen has it correct. You can use a suction device if you've mistakenly overfilled it, but with a dry sump lubrication system it's essentially a waste of time. You're still going to have to drain the crankcase and clutch cover, aka the transmission plug.

My 2 cents - an oil extractor is never going to get all the gunk out that a good old fashioned remove-the-drain-plug oil change will get out. More bad stuff will drain out of that drain hole with the aid of gravity than any suction hose will grab, even if the 1330 engine only held oil in the bottom of the engine (like a car) - which it doesn't!
