Has Anyone Had Sales Or Service Issues With Dealerships In Iowa,Minnesota & Wisconsin

Tony; I'm glad you rang in about your opinion concerning Leer's. I had given them some thought as a alternative. I guess I won't bother now. Did Metro have much of a selection of neww and used Spyder's? By the way do you happen to know the hourly shop rate at Metro? Thanks Jim
I don't know the hourly shop rate but if my 600 mile service was any indication they were on the lower side of the prices mentioned aroundnthis forum...

You could look on their website to see their inventory. I do know that they have a 2013 yellow RT-S and a ST which was still in the crate, although it's probably on the floor by now. I think I also saw a green RS. They also said they where getting a used 2011 red RT-S.

Sorry, I don't know what the labor rate is.

I also met a couple and they lady rides an RS. They did not know about Spyderlovers so I told them what a great forum this is.

I think I'll be buying my 2013 red RT-S in the late February/early March time frame.

Cuba Mo is only 402 miles from you. For such a major purchase, Cowtown can't be beat:yes::bowdown::clap:

Great dealer in Wisconsin

I just brought a Spyder over to Canada from the US (Wisconsin) and I needed a Recall letter from a dealer. The one that the guy, who I bought the bike from, sent with the bike was out dated. So, I called John Berman at Sport Motors in Chippewa Falls in Wisconsin to see if I could get one from him. He emailed me a letter as well as a copy of the BRP database to show that there were no outstanding recalls with the bike. Not only that but he updated the BRP database to show that I am now the owner. John was a great guy to talk to and didn't put it off. He was out in the shop when I called and went right to his desk and got me the info. I wish more dealers in general were like this. If I was to buy another one, that is where I would get it from.

I believe you may end up with warranty and registration issues if purchasing a US machine and bringing it into Canada or vice-versa. Others have mentioned registration issues. Keep us posted.

Agreed, you have a ways to travel. I'm just not familiar with any other dealerships. Not aware of any clubs but hopefully We can find a reason to get something going. NE Iowa is a great place to ride, lived in West Union for a very short period of time. If you get your bike we should take a spin when it warms up.

Just a quick note. I'm heading for CR Friday morning after I get off work. I'm going to Metro Powersports hopefully to have a test ride on a Spyder. I dropped your handle name with a salesman called Brian. I mentioned that their business came highly recommended. Jim

Yes, I reside in that famous Eagle community. The latest off-spring haven't faired as well as past years as two of the three young eaglettes was found electricuted. From what I understand a reliable source is that Mom & Dad Eagle now have a 2nd nest nearby both very close to the Trout Run Fish Hatchery. Wether the video cam will go back up in the spring is a good question.
I like the recommendation coming from "Farmerbanker" about Metro Harley, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa being a stand up dealership. I was hoping some Spyder owner would ring in about thoughts about 2 Brothers Powersports in Onalaska, Wisconsin if not I'll take a chance anyway for a visit.

I read about the bad ending for the eaglets. I don't think they are going to have a camera this year, at least according to the website. (Something about the new nest location.).

It cannot hurt to stop by Onalaska and see. Besides, it may give you something to compare against as far as dealers and prices.

Good luck!

They call him Homey. He's a good guy. Please let me know if they still have the Spyder Do's and Do Nots from this forum hanging on the floor models. That makes for good business.

Hi akspyderman,

I got the bike registered without any problems. That was a piece of cake and it required just a little running around. The Spyder is actually the third bike I have imported from the States as well as a car. As long as the bike is not on the restricted list and it is still pretty much stock there is never much of a problem. As for the balance of the extended warranty. We live pretty close to Malone NY and there is a Can Am dealer there. If we have problems I will worry about it then. We got the bike for about $5000 cheaper than buying the similar one in Canada so if we need work done I will be able to fix it and still be ahead if we can't get the BRP dealer in Malone to do the work.

I am glad to hear that you are on top of the situation and have been able to make the system work for you. :2thumbs::2thumbs: That is usually not the case. Glad to hear all is well.

RT-S 2013

I had some very good service recovery from Metro Harley in Cedar Rapids when my new 2012 RT blew up. (fluke deal) It may be further than you want to drive but if not, thought I would mention that they have done very well for me.

Eric; I thought since you have been probably the most helpful in advice I thought it best inform you that the purchase is a No Go! Not the fault of Metro, blame it on Kelly Blue Book and the economy. Seems that KBB has my wing valued at only $12,800. Since I paid $26,500.00 for it in July 2009, I would loose too much trading it. I've found another solution to my stability issue. If all goes through I will purchase a nearly new 2012 Hannigan HMS-SP2 Sidecar. The fellows wife didn't like it and the Sidecar was only on for 100 miles. Perhaps we will still meet someday on the road.

:yikes:Jim, Ouch! I can understand your thinking and I am sorry to hear that. I'm no expert but I didn't thing a Wing would drop that much in value. Sounds like you have a good plan though. Stay connected here, someday you may yet ryde a Spyder!
