• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hard Downshift - SE5

fleet

New member
Have any of the SE5 owners noticed a hard or more abrupt downshift from 3rd to 2nd ? Mine ( 1400 miles ) is significantly more evident than any of the other downshifts. I'm going to ride my wife's new one this weekend to see if it's me or the Spyder ........ anyone else noticed this ? Could my Hindle cause this ? I don't see how - seems more mechanical to me. Actually kinda lurches me forward when I come to a stop and not a radical stop either .... plain old coast to a stop sign stop.

if you don't bring up the throtle to match the transmission RPMs. It will happen with a manaul as well. Once you get used to the point where it shifts you can match it smother though it can catch you off guard.

I think that it might be a programming problem as mine will match RPMs if you down shift manualy, actually twists the throttle open in your hand.

Throttle Closed - Coasting To a Stop

My issue is the abrupt downshift from 3rd to 2nd coming to a stop with the throttle completely closed - coasting to a stop ( no throttle applied ). 4th to 3rd and 2nd to 1st automatic downshift is barely noticable. 3rd to 2nd automatic downshift results in a mechanical clunk and physical jerk to the driver.

That is what I addressed.

I know. Same answer, RPM not matched. As I said, you CAN do it but the computer seems to do it for the other ratios much better though it might be because we don't completely close the throttle until we have slowed down some. There may be a programing fix for it.
