Handles very well in 35-56mph WIND gusts

Today was a VERY VERY windy day. 35-56mph gusts that knocked down many large trees, people injured etc.

I was ryding westbound on Rt 2 from Cambridge to RT 128. If you know the area, there is a section that is a very large up hill portion that ANY car struggles with.

Yea i gunned it. 75-81mph on the RT-S Up the hill with 35-56mph wind gusts pushing me from all sides. Left side, right side, etc. The RT-S handled VERY well. Yeah it didn't ride on rails, but it was still quite good considering my speed, and the wind pushing against the bike.

I could not agree more. We have been 2 up in gusts in excess of 50mph stock everything. When my wife is happy on the back, I am happy. She was happy...less the helmets we have. They are heavy, cheap and poorly balanced. Easy fix.

Yep I agree very stable in high winds here in KS too compared to everything but a low sitting car.

You must be very adept at this. I was out yesterday in the wind (very gusty) and at one point I got pushed into the on coming lane, Something I am doing wrong? To me this thing handles worse in the wind than my former 1200 GS.

I assure you that the wind moves you more than the bike. Relax your grip. My grip consists of very light finger pressure. I push with the heel of my hands to steer and make corrections.

Relax your grip. I had an 08-RS and now the 10-RTS. Keep your hands on the grips, but dont pull back on both like your hanging from a tree.

Hold them like your have a balance pole and your on a high wire. enough to control, relazed enough to let the minute forces adjust. I personally let my relaxed elbows absorb any adjustments.

Ohkay! thanks for the advice. So in other words stop fighting it. Right now its like a horse that wants to do its own thing. But that is my fault.
