• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Handlebar swap

I own a 2010 rss, I am hoping to change the handlebars to either the st or rt handlebars. A found a thread where someone has put St handlebars on with out a problem, does aanyone know if RT handlebars will work. My concern is the length of the cables, as I have seen a few people have problems with 4" risers.

If anyone has diminsions for the handle bars that would help. I found RT handlebars, but cannot find st handlebars.

The reason I want to change the handlebars is because I do not like the way risers look, personal preference.
Thank you for all the help.

Let me know if you have st handlebars laying around.

RT bars on a 2010 is going to be a pretty involved swap and going to include more than the bars. You have a 3 bolt neck with real bars and the RT and 13'+ machines have a 4 bolt neck with only stubs.

There have been some owners that have installed regular handlebars on their RS's. Try a forum search.

Check out Kewl metal a sponser on the sight. they have handle bars the you can put on and change the riding position.

Your right..!!

the main concern is the length of cables and wires. It can all be done but I know the ST bars will fit but you have to go in and change the routing of things. Remove zip's and reposition the wiring etc. I'm thinking the RT will be much more work. Do check our sponsor for other solutions...

A 2010 RSS is "Throttle by cable". You could always use the wiring harness from an ST, in order to match up to the new bar length, and just look for a longer throttle cable...

Thank for the information, I was not aware of this. When did the ST model some out, was it 2013?

I believe this is the route I will go, all i need to do now is find ST bars.

Yes, 2013 was the first year for the ST. It was also the same year the RS got the RT fly by wire throttle, and their bar design.

Your going to have to go pretty deep into the steering system to make the newer design work on the older machines. There are quite a few differences and likely going to be an expensive retrofit.

There are some 2" riser blocks that turn up from time to time. And really they aren't all that hard to fabricate. This would give you a noticeable lift but keep the stockish look.

OEM Parts diagrams can be found at places such as Riva Motorsports, cheap cycle parts, honda east Toledo, Robs, etc.

Good luck!

Thank for all the feedback, I will keep everyone posted.

From reading a lot of post. I believe thr 13's are interchangeable with no modification. Older years may have some big mods.:D
