• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

HAND GUARDS

Those milk jugs will add a touch of elegance to your Spyder :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

They look cheesy but are wonderful when it's breezy. ( think I will send that into BarkBusters for the jingle of the season!) Great company by the way. I have their solid grip protectors on my WR250R and F650GS.

I just ordered a set. I think they might work with the spyder real well. May look different, but if they work to keep my hands warm, I don't care. :D

Barkbuster Storm guards and BMW lookalike ones seem to work. Attaches via the bar ends, so you don't have to worry about trying to get them around the Spyder's handle bar cover or the controls modules.
...

We'll see if the expander bolt assembly will fit into the Spyder.

Well the eBay handguards came in from China today. They look like the expensive ones from Acerbis but are a fraction of the price. Put them onto the RS and they fit ok. The expander bolt is way long, about 4 or 5 inches! It fit into the Spyder's handlebar easily, but with the long shaft, there is some flex (rattle) that needs to be dealt with. A rubber grommet or donut at the outer end ought to fix it. Luck with have it, it's gonna be warm this weekend, so I won't really be able to test their cold blocking ability, other than wind protection. The throttle side looks funny because there's no handbrake lever to fill up that space. Other than that my initial impression is optimistic they'll help block the cold.

Rode with them today for about 1/2hr. Weather: slight breeze 6-8mph, 50*F and sunny. I wore my leather, non-insulated summer gloves. Speeds up to 60mph.

Verdict. Not as warm as those mitts, but they do block some wind off your hands. My hands were only a little chilly; without them they would have been pretty cold. It would have been perfect with heated grips and/or insulated winter gloves. They block the bottom half of the stock RS mirror, a bit more than I'd like, alleviated by sitting a bit more upright. Had to tighten down the expander bolts more than I'd like, but that was because I didn't get around to finding suitable rubber donuts; but the guards did not rotate.

For <$30 it's a cheap experiment.
