• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Passenger hand-grip heater not working, any thoughts on where to start looking?

Silly Question

2010 RT SM

Passenger hand-grip heater not working, any thoughts on where to start looking?

Thanks
Jeff

Are you, or someone, sitting on the rear seat when testing? If the pillion switch is not depressed (to know there is a passenger), none of the rear controls work -- at least that is my understanding.

All the best .... Ann

I often wondered if the passenger had to be on the seat for them to work.
I could not get mine to work either standing along side the Spyder. Does the engine RPM need to be above a minimum?

You sure you have them? The base RT, at least later ones, do not. Is there a control switch on the left grip?

They're one of the items on the load shedding relay. The engine must be running before they are powered.

I don't think that is the case. The passenger switch is there to signal Nanny to change parameters for braking and yaw or sideways acceleration. The center of gravity and load on the Spyder change when a passenger is present.

The controls are there, I just have not felt them get warm or light up when on.

IdahoMtnSpyder There is a control switch and the book says they are there.
Do your handlebar heated grips work? If so there is problem with the wiring to the rear grips somewhere. The handlebar heaters, fog lights, and rear suspension compressor are all powered through the load shedding relay. If any of the other items work then that tells you the fuse and relay are working so the problem is in the rear grip circuit. I'm looking at the wiring diagram for the 2014 RT which should be basically the same as for your 2010.

The 2010s were not known for throwing an excess of heat... nojoke
First: Make sure that you actually have them. (There have to be controls on the rear grips)
Turn them on, and have someone ride with you without gloves...
they MIGHT just be able to feel the heat.
