• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Any Ham Operators out there carry a two meter rig on their Spyder? I often take my handheld on car trips and have had it on Bike trips. Looks like a Spyder can easily accommodate a hook up. Just wondering.

My 1/2 wave 2m/70cm mobile antenna elevated on a fiberglass stick that I usually use on my bicycles for Public Service events. I have a Diamond (or Comet?) stick-on NMO mount that will go on the other side from the broadcast whip.

35 watt 2m/70cm amplifier with battery in a rain resistant box, for the talkie. I did not have the FTM-10 mobile radio at that time.

Talk-listen-PTT via Bluetooth on my Sena 20s in the helmet through a Sena SR10 wired to the radio(s).

Questions? Just ask!!

I can carry one but won't use it while driving the Spyder. Will use in the truck though. I also have a HF rig in the truck.

I did earn my High Altitude Member patch this past Summer after the owner's event in Durango by cruising up Mt. Mitchel in CO. It's called the HAM Program by the CC Riders Motorcycle Club.

Hi, KA2PFL and N2GUU here.
This is the Ham radio on our 2015 RTL. The Radio is installed in the trunk (so I do not fiddle while Spydering down the road). :trike:

The antenna is mounted here with a metal plate under it for strength.

It was installed above the Chicken Band hole so it would line up with the AM/FM antenna like this. I took the photo at an angle, but side on both antennas are in line.

The radio is connected to a Sena SR10 mounted here. I wired the PTT to the Spyders PTT switch on the handlebar.

It works great, but kind of missing the 30 watts of a mobile dual bander.

Nice neat install! I like where you mounted the radio chassis. I cannot do that as the 2015 has a second fuse block there:(
Does the antenna mount screw to the side of the trunk where I cannot see?

The antenna mount is a cut down Diamond stick on mount. I cut it down and used the 3M adhesive tape activator and stuck it over the spot where the 2nd factory antenna would have been.

Here's the mount data : http://www.diamondantenna.net/pdfdocs/HRKS.pdf
