Had to put my big girl panties on a couple times but I did IT

Today was the day to take the Statue of Liberty and traveling down 6th Ave., New York city and waving at FOXNews off my bucket list. so many many angels made it happen.. first Cooky and Ernie with their incredible hospitality.. getting me through the roundabouts giving me fresh maps of how to get to Staten Island.. thank you so much they worked perfectly. Sundays are supposed to be the easiest days to get around New York Ciphoenix Staten Island except this Sunday is the annual New York City bikeathon.. one policeman said there is between 15 and 20,000 bikers they close down freeways roads everything.. you said you could not have picked a worse Sunday but I will help you get around.. follow his directions down to the ferry terminal could not get down there so had to do another GPS get my personal service going.. finally said one police officer how can I get to that ferry trrminal and he said tell you what you flip the U-turn right there I cannot see what you're doing he said park your trike I'll watch it you don't have to worry about anything because I'm going to be right here for the next four hours.. So got to see Statue of Liberty took lots of pictures.. unfortunately cannot figure out how to post them on this forum.. when I got back I thank the nice policeman and said help get me down sixth Avenue in Manhattan New York city he laughed and said only idiots go down there and that he personally had never done it. He said I can tell you what bridge to cross but after that you're on your own.. My personal asking GPS and never failed me.. Several times went round and round up and down round and round until I found the right street.. have decided New York taxi drivers are crazy and the people trying to hail the taxi are even crazier they just jump out the middle of Street at trying to get taxies .. I eventually found sixth avenue drove down it saw FOXNews waved at them to get them and at the end of sixth Avenue start looking for people to get me out of town and headed toward New England states.. discovered at those swanky hotels that if you pull up the doorman come right to you.. so I would ask them how do I get to 95 I want to go to Connecticut.. I learned how to do U-turns really well.. turn one and cut a cop off all he did was wave at me well I think he was waving!!! Some more of the go round asked many questions eventually asked young man on a motorcycle and he said you follow me I'll get you there. Went for about 2 miles and he pulls over to the right I pull up beside him he says oh crap I missed the turnoff.. Then he says see the turnoffs right there tell you what I'll block two lanes of traffic you flip a U-turn and you go on your merry way.. he did and I did and I am in Connecticut in a motel sending you this message!! Whoop whoop two things off of my bucket list!!!
Great job, so glad to have met you at Spyderfest. Enjoy your journey and keep us all informed so we can enjoy your journey as well. If you can make it tgru New York city you can handle anything. Enjoy and be careful!!!

Hi everyone...Murphy here..the awesome network of spyder lovers has been treating me like royalty..how fun is that? More later..

All hail Murphy Brown!!!

I would have never ridden thru NY City traffic!

It was nice meeting you, however briefly, in the Super-8 parking lot at SpyderFest. I was the yellow GS parked next to you.

You go girl!!!

  1. Great stuff! Karyl, say "Hi" to my Mayflower ancestors while you are there. ;)
Talked to your ancestors today...they are a little concerned about this Spyder thingy...they think you have gotten way to modern and futuristic...assured them you are the same wonderful guy...not sure they believe me..:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

Thanks for the update, Karyl
Love reading about your adventures. Ride safe, and I know your having the trip of a lifetime.

If you venture up to Northern Vermont, then you are only a hop, skip , and a jump from Montreal Canada. If you do decide to visit the city, by all means pop by the shop and say "Hi" !!

Just got a PM from murphybrown. She is on her way to Plymouth Rock. I will met her there and human GPS her to Cape Cod

If you can, please take her over the Bourne Bridge and visit Daniel Webster's house. We were in Buzzards Bay in 2009. What a change from when I was in the Air Force at Otis in 63-66.

Murphybrown,
It was so nice to meet you at SpyderFest (spent some time talking to you at Harvey's stall in the vender area, we talked about Washington and JoeT82 returning from San Diego to WA)
Reading your posts make my day, you are an amazing lady and have a knack for taking us all along with you on the road! Everyone could learn from your AWESOME attitude and zest for your bucket list experiences.

We will be right there with you as we read your road log.
(bet you never knew so many of us could fit on that RT with you)

Ryde safe and enjoy every minute of it.

We came onto to the cape via the Sagamore ( currently under repair and a traffic nightmare). Murphybrown is so easy going that the backups did not phase her at all.

We went into Sandwich, Ma and Mb in her inimitable manner got two locals to spend 15 minutes standing in the road telling us all about the Sandwich Glass Factory.

Today we went to Boston it terrible traffic in the rain. We went across the Bourne Bridge this time.

I think she had a great History lesson in Boston as we walked a major chunk of the Freedom Trail, than across the Zachum Bridge and off she went.

If you don't know and have not met MurphyBrown you have definitely missed out, and should make an effort cause she is a trip...

You go Mb

See ya on the road

Mike and Carolyn

Wow Wow Wow

That was the word I kept saying over and over yesterday as I walk down the freedom Trail in Boston. A big shout out and thank you to tour guide Mike Extraordinaire!! We left Cape Cod heading to Boston and it was raining. For me who is from the land of dry it was raining really hard.. then you add all the traffic okay you get the picture BUT wait Mike is in the lead. Please don't ask me to describe anything between Cape Cod and Boston my total focus was on two red tail lights on a blue Prius kept saying to myself follow the red dots follow the red dots!!! Have no doubt that there were a few drivers that were :lecturef_smilie: Toward me!! Got parked got up and started seeing the sights of historic Boston.. with in two minutes a man walks by with a Starbucks cup I think Mike thought I was going to attack him.. Great news we were only seconds from Starbucks and I was saved.. three shots of espresso later and I am ready to take Boston's Freedom Trail on... Mike kept a running commentary going for me and all I kept saying was wow wow wow!!! Just ordered a history of Boston book I've got to learn more I certainly didn't learn it in my history classes.. or if I did I sure as heck haven't retained much.. so if you get in the Cape Cod Boston area look up Mike a Spyderlovers guide/host (along with his lovely wife Carolyn who is the proud new owner of a lava limited RT)
extraordinaire :bowdown:and he's reasonable!!! Cup plain kona coffee at SB's :roflblack::roflblack:

Well, Karyl spend her first night in Maine , she arrived with perfect timing, Supper was on the table, went for coffee at Cosey Corner Cafe this Morning, and met up with Rogerb, and he is riding with her up to Cabela's, Delorme Mapping, and LL BeansDSC01163.jpgAll is well and the weather is promising sunshine

Another gorgeous day being" chauffeured" North in Maine

John W gave you a quick update then Roger and I took off for cabelas. My rain gear was hopelessly inadequate so got new that is perfect. Then to Delorme maps what a place.. then on to LL Bean which I was really really excited about until.. Ms. Spyder spotted a Starbucks there is no holding her back.. pretty sure Roger was scratching his head saying what is that woman doing. He pulled into LL Bean parking lot and I said no no we can park behind the building Starbucks building so I take off for that parking spot.. he followed we get off the bike and he said that LL Bean right there... my single Starbucks focus would have had me missing LL Bean if Roger had not been with me. Our next stop was this little teeny tiny hot dog type stand and oh my it is not what they sell.. I had a lobster roll and Roger had clam cakes at that point Roger signed off on his duty as tour guide and headed back to Waterboro and I moved on to Rockland MA where I'm spending the night again incredibly gorgeous area but it is the Spyderlovers that are priceless and I am in deep gratitude to all of them. Tomorrow is Bar Harbor area.. okay I'm going to try and post a picture of that lobster roll if it's here I did it if not couldn't figure it out.:banghead::banghead: Update.. it is not going to happen I don't even know how to start..:roflblack::roflblack:
