• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Had my tail section painted on the RT

hey Lamont,

good switch on the profile pic... nice SKULL :)

GREAT Devil's Tower !!!

as for the tail piece... painting it is a great
change! and for the swap issue... the words
in the automotive induustry that comes to
mind for sucha venture are... "Core Charge".

when you buy a replacement part... you swap
the old (failed) part for the new part; and you
eliminate a core charge/fee. that tiem is sent
back to a manufacturer and recycled as a basic
core to rebuild the new one with. for this
application... you turn in your old "fender tip"
and you simply swap the old one, for a new
painted one. otherwise... you pay for the price
of the basic part, plus paint.

my questions and suggestion is... has someone
fabricated an extension for the fender tip, to
compensate for the road splash, back onto the
passenger and the trunk area; to include being
able to paint ALL of it...?

Danny does have an exchange program at my suggestion. When we did Barbwires I purchased the new fender, Danny painted it sent it to me and I returned the other one for him to use as an exchange. In fact the fender that Lamont has is the one off of Barbwires Spyder. Just give him a call he will take good care of you.

Rear RT fender

Thanks Lamont, the fender looks great on there. I wish I could of been around to help you install it and head to Sturgis with you and Len.

It takes about 3 days of sanding, several coats of primer and the right chemicals, because it's plastic, to get that texture out so it is nice and shiny. Plastic textured parts actually take a lot of time and materials to make smooth.

Thank you fencepost for the help on the exchange program. I have two fenders right now that I could paint and have ready for an exchange. I can install them as well if you are close by or are coming through the area.

I've never been happy from day one with the look of the tail section of the RT, it just didn't look finished to me. It's been in my mind to have this painted and I finally got it done by Farris Customs and I'm glad I did.

When I was in Cuba MO I got a chance to use the shop at Cowtown to swap out this section. It didn't take long and the end results were great, I'm very happy with the color match and it looks factory now. It's held up great for the 5000+ miles I have with it on so far. :doorag:

This is what it looks like with the tail section off.

Unpainted and painted

Installed

It looks great Lamont!! Awesome work again by Painter Dan

Now how about a windshield Painter Dan? :roflblack:

It does really look good, seen it myself, Great Job Danny :2thumbs:

I am going to have to get a hold of you, mine would not be black, wonder who gave me that suggestion

Hey Danny (not to hi-jack this thread), but, we stopped by with the new RT Limited today and no one was home at the shop:(. This would be a great addition to our RT if you can match the Pearl White:dontknow:.Also want to look into some custom graphics!

I'm sorry:opps: I'm still moving in and in between buildings. Give me a call when you are going to be around and I will make sure I'm there(573-205-8936). I will be able to match that white, it shouldn't be a problem.

I wish you could recommend a New England source for painting like this.

I would do it myeslf, but I never have the time.
