• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Guess someone named Kevin Bliss needed to make a point? Yes, you can flip a Spyder

At the tender young age of 55, I only started riding a year ago when my son got his motorcycle endorsement (2-wheel). My wife and I both earned our 3-wheel endorsements about a month ago and bought our first Spyder (RT) a couple weeks ago. Though I'm a "late bloomer," I've been a pilot most of my life, to include flying helicopters, tailwheel airplanes (a reverse trike of sorts, without all the Can-Am tech), and floatplanes. That experience helps a little.

I've heard/read many folks assert that riding 3 wheels is way easier than riding 2 wheels. I don't agree. So far I've learned that they're different. A trike like a Can-Am has certain stability advantages over a 2-wheel (like my brick-simple Boulevard S40). But even on a "smart" trike like a Can-Am, there are also ways it can reach around and bite you on the butt. Especially if you aren't careful. Or acting plain stupid.

Respect.

(And I LOVE riding BOTH ways!)

Being different is what we preach here all the time! In some respects the Spyder is easier to ride in that you don't have to contend with potential tip over situations. It mostly is harder in cornering. On two wheels there is a 'sweet spot' of radius, speed, and angle of lean, that enables the two wheeler to go around the curve with no steering input. The G forces also are in line with your spine so you don't feel any centrifugal force pushing your body sideways. Steering around a corner with a Spyder is a full time job and the forces add up to one pushing your body sideways.

Wow! I can't say much about him though. I've done my own stupid test (Trike Vs Wall) I even filmed it (the wall was never the plan) but when it was all said and done posting it was over the top. So it didn't go there. Even saying it may get me an extra stupid tax charge! The first $12,000+ charge was enough!

What was that? Yes Officer, I'll go peacefully ....

Do you think that he will drive his car into a wall to see if he can activate the air bags, set fire to his home to see if the smoke alarm works, stick his hand in a fire to see if it burns him, etc.?

I wonder if that would of happened if he had keep the wheels straight going through the leaves instead of cranking the handle bars back and forth? My guess is no it wouldn't.

Not an issue.
This would correspond to a M/C sliding in a turn (ice, oil, gravel, etc.) and suddenly having traction...typically resulting in a high-side (flipping over, instead of sliding).

I believe is was Albert Einstein who said, "There are limits to intelligence but apparently there are no limits to stupidity." Proposition tested, proposition confirmed.

Typical high side. Back wheel(s) loose traction, rear end swings out, rear tire(s) regain traction - flip. Can be deadly on two wheels at any speed.

Just like on Facebook - so many Karens and keyboard warriors here. Why all the name calling and attacks? Would you do this to your Spyder, no? Okay - cool. Guess what - he would. He did. He shared the video. You don't have to watch it.

I say kudos to him. Looks like something I'm likely to do. All you keyboard warrior name calling folks just sit back and be ready - I'm sure there's something else you can flame and attack coming soon.

I can see your point, but somehow stupidity makes me want to comment on it.

Counter opinions are fine IMO. Just keep it friendly people.

As moderators, this thread has been on the verge of breaking rules, but has not gone so far over the line as to close it.

So far, the mods have not had a big discussion over it, but maybe that time is coming.

Mr Bliss did open himself up to criticism by posting the event on Facebook for all to see. The pack seems to think what he did was not real smart, but jdr00 has a valid point also.

Methinks his point is that he got his undies in a knot. The comments made about Bliss and his antic are all valid and non threatening in any way. Bliss did a dumb thing and is getting ridiculed here for that.

He's been called an idiot, stupid, moron, told he has zero IQ, someone above says they wish he'd drive his car into a wall, and I'm the one with my undies in a knot? LOL! BTW, wishing he'd drive his car into a wall definitely seems non-threatening and valid - NOT!

I made my point - and I'll bow out of this conversation so the moderators don't have to shut it down on my account. If anyone needs me - I'll be out doing something that around here I'm sure will get me ridiculed next. ;-)
