• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Group Ride to Lamont's BBQ from Maggie Valley

It seems like there are a bunch of us who will be leaving Maggie Valley for Lamont's on Saturday so let's try to ride together. I seem to remember that it takes about an hour (maybe longer) to get there so we could leave around 11:00 maybe. Meet in the parking lot at the Comfort Inn.

Just throwing ideas out there so if anyone has a better idea let's hear it. :bbq:

Some of us will be at Creekwood RV Park on Hwy 276 (Jonathan Creek Rd). If ya'll will just come by that way, we cold fall in with you on the way and save some backtracking!

Possible Route

The route I have been looking at takes I-40 to Newport and then Rt. 35 to Greeneville. I know the way to get to Lamont's from Greeneville. You can see the route I'm considering here:

http://goo.gl/maps/No0b8

This way it is 74 miles and Google says it will take 1 1/2 hours.

I have deliberately avoided other routes (like Rt. 209) because I am not a fan of serious twisties. For those who are, Lamont has suggested Rt 209 as one of his favorite roads.

Just a suggestion.

I nominate you as ride leader! Put your yellow RT up front and I'll bring up the rear with mine :roflblack: I couldn't remember if it was 50 or more miles. Will your route take us past the RV park?

We'll be at the Quality Inn (Jamison) on Friday night...Somebody's got to check and see if the parking lot is still there....:)

I vote for two groups, I would love to ride the 209 route, if it is any good I hope to be wore out by the time I get there.

We look to be eating around 2pm so if you want to come early for the fellowship you're welcome to. :doorag:

Sounds like a plan. 209 is a fun road with some tight twisties. I would be open to an earlier start time, say 9 or so.

Hard to believe anyone would choose to ryde over on the Interstate instead of the 209... Great road with beautiful scenery and no traffic!
Lets hope the crowd goes on the superslab and leaves the twisties to us!

You look for off roads, Jack... personal experience, folks... They love the roughness!:roflblack:

On a serious note, I can agree with Ken on a extent... I would try to avoid twisty roads on giant group rides... the accordion effect would not be pretty... fast twisty riders will be cussing off the slow movers!nojoke

Everyone has his or her own idea of a good ride. Some want to sweat with the workout of the ride, and run close to the edge of the envelope. Others may want to get where they are going without panting. Some like speed, some like a leisurely pace. Some like the mountains and some like flat, straight, and speedy. I don't see why it should be hard to believe, just because it doesn't match your preference. I-40 is a nice road, with good scenery but less of a workout. Every ride doesn't need to be a challenge.
