• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

grips suck

If my wife and I agree on anything about the Spyder, it's that the grips suck. Just wondering if any of you have changed your's out, and to what. I showed her the Kury grips, but she dosen't like the chrome. Thanks.

I installed ProGrip gel grips on SpyderDeb's for about $10. The ends were already cut out to allow the end caps to be installed.

There is significant spring force to be overcome in opening and maintaining throttle position. The std grips require one to maintain a constant squeeze for operation. My H-D grips have a pattern that are very easy to maintain light hand pressure on the grip to operate. So we looked for a replacement grip that had patterns, "ribs" or structure, down the length of the grip, parallel to the twist axis - much better!

I installed the gel Progrips about a month ago and have very pleased. Their 'sticky' nature makes it easy to maintain a grip and they have better vibration cushioning than the stock grips.

If its just the chrome she doesnt' like about the kuryakyn then Talk to Matt at Kewlmetal they were powdercoating some kuryakyn products and i think the ISO grips were one of them.

If you have an air compressor, you can use it to "blow" the grips loose by inserting the air nozzle between the grips and the bars.

Or, you can carefully insert a small screwdriver between the grips and bar and spray some WD40 (a solvent) to loosen the glue's grip. Work your way around the grip with the screwdriver and WD40 to complete.

Be careful on the throttle side. Instead of the grip being on the bar, it's glued to the plastic throttle sleeve... can be damaged with the screwdriver if you force it too much.

In addition, on the throttle side, there are a series of recesses in the throttle sleeve that mate with little extensions on the inside of the grip. Once you have done the WD40 trick, twist the grip opposite of opening the throttle and push/pull outboard at the same time.

Any tips on getting the factory grips off?
I've removed the end cap but they don't seem to budge.:dontknow:

Thanks man,
I will get the Pro Grip Gel Grips ordered, and when they get here, try to get the existing ones off. I do have a air compressor, so I will try that first.
