• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

GREASE FITTINGS

The only reference I see in that link is that someone purchased a 90 degree tip but then was going to go out an purchase the zerks. Doesn't sound like they tried the tip first.

Anyway, works for me and comes in handy on other vehicles as well.

I made no comment about your post. My comment was to the person who said 6mm, and I was just reiterating that that is what post #5 in the link I provided stated. I never made any comment as to whether your handy dandy fitting was good or not. So, I don't know what your point or problem is. I will say that I'm getting kind of tired of this crap.

This is what I did...

Saves all the hassle of changing out the zerks. Just another way to skin the cat (if cat skinning is your thing)

Ron, why don't you sell these?

Bob

It's a poor design. Even if you can get the grease gun to connect up to the fitting, the fitting is screwed in and rests directly on the part you are trying to grease so the grease ends up going everywhere EXCEPT to where you need it! Someone else commented on this but I can't find the post. I guess the only fix is to remove the grease fitting and grind some of it off to shorten it!

I'm not one to try to sell stuff on forums but this thread caught my attention.

I don't own a Spyder so I can't assess whether the ability to grease all lube points from one centrally located grease point would be worth having and cost effective, Of course the cost effectiveness is subjective, some may scoff while others may think it a great investment.

It looks like the total number of grease fittings is 8. Is that correct? Once that number is established, I can provide a cost for hardware to anyone interested in having the ability to grease multiple numbers of grease points from a single point..... if it was desirable.

I will say that if I owned one, I most likely would have this hardware (known as a series progressive divider valve) installed on mine.

2 HOURS

2 HOURS & 10 MINUTES LATER, I'M FINISHED.....
TOOK 20 MINUTES TO REMOVE & REPLACE THE 4 BOTTOM FITTINGS...
TOOK 1 HOUR 50 MINUTES TO REPLACE THE TOP 4...
THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE THE TUPERWARE REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT.

I NEED TO TAKE EXCEPTION WITH THE DESIGN ENGINEER (?) AT
BRP THAT MADE THE SELECTION FOR THE 'STRAIGHT' FITTINGS... HE/SHE OBVIOUSLY DOESN'T DO HIS/HER OWN MAINTENANCE... IF I HAD EVER DESIGNED GE's JET ENGINES WITHOUT GIVING CONSIDERATION TO THE SERVICE CENTERS REQUIREMENTS, I WOULD HAVE BEEN GIVEN A BROOM AND TOLD TO MOVE ON.... BRP NEEDS TO BUY A 'CATIA' DESIGN PACKAGE AND TRAIN THEIR ENGINEERS IN THE USE OF IT... HOWEVER, I'M STILL SMILING... :ohyea:

FOOT-NOTE: WILL SOMEBODY PLEASE INVENT: A NUT/BOLT, IN THIS CASE A ZERK FITTING THAT DOESN'T FIND IT'S WAY TO THE MIDDLE OF THE UNDERSIDE OF A BIKE/CAR WHEN YOU DROP IT....:gaah:

I agree it was a lousy design. I think BRP does listen but it takes them a long while to react. The 2014s don't need to be greased at all anymore.

That actually may not be a good thing! How is that and what did they change?

Bob

Instead of the 2 plastic bushings and a sleeve they went to a single bushing/bearing assembly. I have not had one in my hand but you can see the difference on the parts fiche.
The one question I have not got an answer to is: Will the new bushing fit in older models? If so maybe it may be worthwhile to change them out.
