• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. This may have already been covered but is there a good GPS that has XM / Sirius built in that transmits wirelessly to bluetooth ear thing-a-ma-jiggy or something like that either's built into the helmet or to a hook over ear type earpiece / like a wireless all in one .

Questions ... Please

I just bought the Garmi Zumo 550 w/ chatterboxGMRS x1 bluetooth it has all the bells an whistles GPS,XM, Ipod...so far so good

I understand how the GPS works but lets say you want to cruise down the road listening to "the 70's" on XM - Does it broadcast it wirelessly to a bluetooth ear thing ? the one that just hooks behind your ear and isn't attached to your helmet ?

Kinda like my truck - music's playing but when the built in navigation needs to tell you something like " turn right in 2 miles" - it overrides the music ?

What's not in the Garmin package ? What else would I need to buy ?

What's the music quality on the bluetooth ? I'm deaf in one ear anyway so stereo is useless to me.

How are you going to mount it on your spyder ? I saw a photo of a TomTom mounted above the instrument cluster centered at the bottom of the windshield. Looked really nice and clean - no wires etc.

Sorry for all the questions but this little addition isn't cheap !

Thanks so much for your input !!!!!!!

You are right this is not on the cheap. You will need to buy the Zumo 550 and chatterbox. If you want XM radio then that will set you back another $200.00 plus dollars for the XM antenna/receiver without the subscription fee for XM. It can mount under the windshield but you want to paint the windshield at that point.

All said and done it's really a nice mod. I used a J&M CB radio kit for the Spyder instead of the chatterbox so I'm hardwired. The idea of charging my helmet everynight was not what I wanted plus you have an open road CB to chat with truckers etc....

Fleet,

I have the zumo 550 gps and the blueant system. The blueant is wireless and fits into the helmet (most of it under the padding but the speaker and microphone) and it connects to the gps and my phone. If my phone rings I just say "answer" and it answers the phone without me having to touch or do anything. If listening to music, and a turn comes up, the gps lowers the volume on the music and tells me to turn. Its a great system, and comes with a basic handlebar mount . The zumo 550 / blueant system isn't stereo - but you said you didn't need that anyhow. Below are links for reference - you may be able to find them cheaper elsewhere but I ordered the blueant from Amazon myself..
