• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Looking to see if anyone might know how to find gps routes staying off of the interstates. We are looking to enjoy the countryside without getting too lost;). Hoping to take a ride in the next couple of weeks down to Knoxville area. Thanks guys
Dave

That would be more in the unit setting preferences on my Garmen I can select few things "fastest route", "shortest distance & such. There is also avoidance like tolls & ferrys. Play with your settings in familure area when u can preview the route & know if that's the type you wanna try or not. They can get screwy so good luck & if you end up too far off track the restore feature will get your settings back to stock without the guess work.

I don't have my gps in front of me right now, so bear with me.
It depends on which GPS you are using, but typically in the Tools or Settings, Routing there is a way to select Avoidances. Select Freeways or Interstates I don't remember which. It will plot a route to your destination that, as much as possible, avoids interstates.

Yup, what they said, additionally in Google Maps you can pre plot a route and then click options and Avoid Highways, or you can use the MyRoute-App website that allows you to plan a route avoiding highways and unpaved roads, then export that route to your Garmin or Tom Tom GPS .
The MyRoute-app was developed by Motorcyclists so you can even pick some other options like hilly(er) rides or curvier rides in the options. It even has a RoundTour planning option that lets you pick a start point and a time or distance riding option and it plots a unique trip for you to try. All of the routes created in the website can be exported to a GPS then used by the GPS.
In a Garmin 590, Select Settings > Navigation > Avoidances.Select the road features to avoid on your routes, and select Save.
for Curvy roads, Taking a Route Using Curvy RoadsYour device can calculate routes that prefer curvy roads. This feature can provide a more enjoyable ride, but it may increase the time or distance to your destination.
NOTE: This feature is not available on all device models. This feature is dependent on your map region.
Select Settings > Navigation > Calculation Mode > Curvy Roads > Save.
Start a route.
