There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Got my RH Grille on

I followed the directions in this thread http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?62589-2014-RH-Grill-on-2013-RTS and received and cut my RH Grille today. The pictures in that thread were not very clear and it did not end up the way I wanted to. I had planned on doing some cuts in the bottom for airflow and was hoping for a tighter fit, but you know what It might be all good as it is. He mentioned in his thread about the area he left open around the bottom and I have the same thing BUT it actually works like a hinge when the fan blows it opens up the bottom blowing it out. I took it for a ride and felt no heat 3 or 4 bars in 60 deg ride. No heat felt. Came home let it idle till it kicked the fan on and off a few times and noticed the lower hinge effect no heat blowing back at me. If you look at the RH hole from over the saddle area you will see a lot of the fan and how it can blow straight back at your leg. With the upper grille in it, it does deflect the heat more outward. Not sure how much that will help going down a hot road but sitting still it does not let the fan blow straight back on your leg. Time ( and higher temps) will tell how this works out and I hope there are no issues but so far so good. I still have a little dress up to do I cut it with tin snips and did a little filing I will clean it up later.

Good to know. I have mine on order and will probably cut it too big to start and work in from there to keep the gap as small as possible.

That is why I posted the close ups. I would leave ~1/2"-3/4" and go from there. Another slight mistake I made was cutting the side tab off too much also it could clip to the plastic I would leave 1/2" on that tab to start too. But like I said this may work with the hinge effect it can swing out and shoot the heat down. Especially if you have Seal DLX floor boards like mine  It may work better than my original plan and this is cheap enough to start over to try another way.:dontknow:

Dave,
I think that you did a real bang-up job on it!! :2thumbs:
I got mine in place too! It just cost me a whole lot more money... :shocked:It's Home 042.jpg

UPDATE

Here are a few pics of what I did. I cult the bottom off and now it works like a flap and allows air to be directed down. It was only 75 here today and I sat in my driveway letting the fan cycle on and off and it made quite a difference. The upper grille did direct the air out more. I felt very little heat on my legs. I am waiting till it gets hotter if any issues arise I have a sheet of Stainless mesh and will cut a large hole in the bottom to allow more flow and paint it with High Temp Flat Black if needed. You can see I used some DEI insulation too. I will worry about the rough edges later after I am sure it is doing what I want it too.

Why didn't you just leave that whole tab on there and drill the hole and install the push rivet? When I bought my grill I had them get me 2 extra rivets and drilled both holes (top and side) and cut the whole bottom of it off. The bottom of mine is wide open and I only have the grill on top. Mine has factory floorboards so maybe that's why I don't fell any heat blowing out that bottom hole?

I could have done that but I personally felt it was unnecessary it fits tight and the flow keeps it in position. Hey this is version 1 I may make other mods or even start over till I get what I want when it gets into the 90 around here. I do need some coverage on the bottom for my foot rest area on the Seal DLX floorboards and like the down venting concept so it flows under the boards.:thumbup:Idle it in the driveway you are going to feel heat coming out that open hole. Going down the road it will toast your foot.
