There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Good on ya RT2012 lava Bronze Spyder

You know I read all these negative posts on this website calling the Spyders crap or moaning and groaning about every little thing going wrong.
Well here is a positive post.I purchased my Spyder a 2012 Lava Bronze RT limited on July 7 2012.That is 1 year and 18 days ago.Since then I have done 19200 miles on the Spyder.Over 10000 miles have been done Travelling to Spyderfest, then the Owners event and last but not least a trip to Nova Scotia which ended today with me arriving home to Florida.
The Nova Scotia trip was 2 weeks plus over 5000 miles riding the twistiest roads,The roughest Tarmac roads and 3 days coming home to Florida, over 550 miles a day, on my own riding interstates at fast speeds.Guess what.No problems whatsoever,no limpmode,no not starting, none of the crap I see posted. This bike has run perfectly since I bought it.
A couple of small problems which did not require posting.A slight oil leak. The dealer repaired it under warranty no problem, A latch problem. The dealer replaced the latch in minutes from another bike in minutes.A small problem bike cut out.We found a loose screw on the ground fixed it in minutes no problem.Did I post any of this minor crap.No.
On my Goldwing I had more wrong in the first year than with the Spyder.Do you know we simply repaired it no problem.
So for all the moaners and groaners out there here is a one year old Spyder ridden extensively with simply no problems.By the way I have a great dealer who looks after the Spyder.Central Florida Powersports.

That's good to hear...

as I'm chomping at the bit to hit the road again! I've got just over 5000 miles on mine and the only problem I've had was an oil leak that the dealer fixed.

Good for you. Some of us just haven't had the luck you have. I rarely had any trouble with my 2010 RT and now I have been plagued with more than my fair share of problems on my 2013.

If it hadn't been for some other owners of 2013s posting about problems they had with bad shocks and a faulty purge valve I dare say that my Spyder might still be sitting in the shop. Knowing that there had been others with bad shocks I was able to get mine replaced and that fixed the bad handling issues I was having.

My dealer thought I had an exhaust leak and that is what he had his mechanic look at. That wasn't the issue and when I brought the Spyder back in I told them to check the purge valve as there had been a number of people that had reported problems with theirs. Well guess what it was a bad purge valve.

So I say, please don't keep your problems to yourself. Share them and the solutions that you have found. It is what makes this community so great.

2012 RT-S

With 4700 miles on it, only have two issues. Lost a bolt on the foot rest plate that was fixed by warranty, and not enough time to put miles on the bike. Wait a second, make that three issues. I have to replace the mirror clips (on order), but that was my fault. At least I now know how to remove, and replace correctly.

Hello Ivory: Glad to hear the success story with your ryde. 20,000 plus in a season is pretty good. :firstplace: Hoping you have many more trouble free miles.

I to am also quite new to the spyder and have had it close to a year wth no major problems just the one comes to mind and it was taken care of under the BRP warentee,
Other than that it has been a flawless machine that i can trust to take any new adventiur without worry.
Having a strong dealership presence makes all the difference, i am truely happy with my ride which keeps me on the road rather than on the forum no complaints here life is good ride safe my spyder lovin friends.

We don't mind at all hearing about the problems that are faced; it often puts a few more useful minds onto it, and solutions come quicker!
The benefit, is that we can ALL learn from an experience in this manner.
But when somebody just starts unloading about what a piece of crap they got tricked into buying, with no specific issues that can be addressed; it sure makes you want to be a bit less than sympathetic...:gaah:
So Ivor,

My 2012 lava bronze was a dream machine also, traded it in at Spyderfest for a 2013 and it too is a dream machine. Only problem i have is that i am not retired yet and the job keeps getting in the way of my riding.

Good to hear you are having a good time and hope to see you soon.

Is your Better Half willing to take in laundry, mow lawns, or babysit?
She should be happy to keep you in the lifestyle that you've become accustomed to! :roflblack:

I have found that the information about the Spyder here is very valuable. Some concerns I have had, or questions I asked have been answered here!

The piece of crap post's I can understand, there frustration with the product, or service may be justified, but they are working off emotion, and can not see a way to solve the problem, It is a way of venting.

mirror removal

Also have 2012 rts, no issues, but how do you remove the mirrors, the manual is a little weak at explaining it.

Good on ya 2012 RTS!

Glad to hear you made it home safe and sound. Wondered how your ride would be with back problems. William and I made it home yesterday morning as well. Would've made it sooner but for the rain. Long ride but an awesome trip! As for the bike, I haven't had any problems myself with nearly 12,000 miles on it in 7 months. Lookin forward to the next trip! Hope to cya on the road!

Good to hear..!!

we are loving our RS with 9,000 trouble free miles..there are many more of us out there. As I have said before no problems no posting. But we are here to meet and greet request, ask, search for answers to questions and problems and lighten things up with a bit of fun. But to be as effective as this site is we need to deal with the issues that do come with any mechanical machine. So a mix is good. Even I get a bit down when the good don't speak up against the bad and the ugly..!! :roflblack:

Glad you guys made it home safely.I only had one hours drizzle in the total 1650 miles home.2nd and 3rd days great weather.Took 3 days all day riding with a heat pad and a pill.Back improved as I travelled.Guess all the twisting and leaning the 11 days prior.
Nice meeting and ryding with you guys.

It's real easy, but tough to explain... :opps:

I have; on several occasions, knocked them loose with my head when stainding up! But that method isn't in the manual, nor is it suggested! ;)

Put one hand on the top of the mirror...
Take your other hand, and give that baby a bit of rap from underneath along it's trailing edge! :yikes: The top hand is there to kind of restrict the amount of allowable movement: maybe a third of an inch or so!
Once you've slowed your heartbeat down, and the mirror seems MUCH looser than it was; put one had up front (As a catch can!) and give it a shot forward!
Good Luck!
