• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Gold Plugs

My wife has a 2010 RTS SE5 and I have a 2013 RTS SE5. Which Gold Plugs do we need and how many? I want to start doing my own oil changes and save some money.

Thanks
Rick

 Bob,
Now you're going to have ALL of us worrying about (and fighting over), the various deficiencies of all of the better-known aftermarket options. :banghead:

Bob, I get the impression that you are sponsored by Marlboro, based on the subliminal appearances during the video. How much do you get from them? :roflblack:

GOLD PLUG CONCERNS

I must respectfully disagree with Finless Bob's concerns about the gold plugs. I put them on my previous ST-S and now have them on my F3-S with no problems. I would highly recommend them over the OEM hex plugs.

:D I've got a set sitting here in my desk: waiting for the next oil change...
I got them after hearing the concerns about the Dimple plugs breaking...

Whoa.....

After all this I may go back to the oem grind down the edges to match a socket....:roflblack::roflblack:

I put them on my last oil change. True, the stock plug has a magnet but the Gold plug magnet is about 10 times stronger. It is a little longer because the gold plug crush washer is thicker. So now I have 2 powerful magnets instead of one weak one and the future oil changed will be easier because of a standard bolt instead of worrying about damaging that hex plug with a Allen wrench. When you order the Gold plugs, go ahead and get a pack of crush washers with them, so you can replace them on future changes.

Hi AY4B,

Re: When you order the Gold plugs, go ahead and get a pack of crush washers with them, so you can replace them on future changes.

If you order a full oil-change kit from BajaRon they come with new crush washers.

I would say the stock magnet works perfectly fine!
