• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Going to be upgrading server soon

I hate having to do this and I really hate having to do this while I'm on the road but it looks like we've out grown our server again. I guess that could be considered a good thing. I remember when we got 50,000 pages views a month and now we,re getting 90,000 a day :yikes:

I'm not sure exactly when this is going to happen but my buddy Darrel is going to work with the server/VB guy doing it. As soon as I get the bill for the server I'll know that the change is not far in the future. I'll let you know as soon as I know something.

What will happen is the board will be closed and we'll grab all the data and move it to the new setup server. Then we'll make the DNS change and it can take as long as 24 hours to propagate but most likely it will be a few hours. Then we fix everything that broke in the move. That's the part I hate but it has to be done.

Just giving you a heads up.

I know I speak for the whole SpyderLovers community when I say we appreciate all the time, effort and resources you devote to this website.

Sorry to hear about the headaches and expense...but congrats on the cause. This is the premier Website for all things Spyder!

Thanks for the heads-up.

Sorry it's probably my fault! With several feet of snow on the ground, in between snow blowing the driveway and work, I have been reading and reading and reading as much as I can about Spyders, Farkles, issues etc.... I have Learned TONS! I promise as soon as the snow melts and I can get outside I won't be hammering your server as much!

Hey Lamont it's good to hear that we have out grown the old server and need an update...just goes to show that this is truly the best resource for any thing Spyder....great job your doing buddy take care.

Long Hard Winter

It has been a long hard winter here and I have been on the forum often. I'm probably not the only one though as close to half the country has been buried and frozen for too long without a break. Hopefully we all can soon get a break from this winter weather and get back in our saddles again and do some riding.

Someone had better sedate Bob before he sees this or we may have a Medical Emergency on our hands!

Sad as it may seem, if the site files are tranferred to a new server then individual post count will be transferred too.
Bob and Snoop can both, I think, breathe a sigh of relief.....

i would think

i would really think that a new server is needed all memberships should transfer but all post counts should be reset

I'm not actually advocating you do this . . . but couldn't you actually reduce the server space required by tossing Bob and Snoopy out? :roflblack: Seriously, though, thanks for providing such a great resource, Lamont! :firstplace::bowdown:

yes, thanks lamont!!! and by the way, denman must be riding or at least sitting in the saddle (in his garage)!

We all really appreciate the hard work that must go on to make using this site as smooth and simple as it seems.

We'll be fine for a day or so.
