• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Has anyone figured out a way to not have those sun glare/flare spots when shooting the video while you are riding into the sun?

Am I the only one that ends up with these spots when viewing the videos?

I'm surprised that no one else has the problem with the sun flare/glare picked up by the gopro.

I did call gopro and asked their tech support about it. He said that was typical of digital cameras.

There is no full proof way of eliminating the purple spots you may see when viewing the video. He did offer a suggestion, which I'll try; but, I do think it will be hiot or miss.

Maybe it's just me, but I haven't really noticed it that much.

Just to get an idea what happened, were you traveling into the sun at sunrise/sunset or did it happen later in the day?

I made a video (which I'm uploading right now to photobucket) and the beginning scene was a group of bikes headed into the sunrise with music in the background. It was the music that added to the drama, and the sun, a source of distraction, was critical to the scene.

You'll see hopefully by tomorrow. The video is almost 500 MB so its going to take some time.

It happens at any time of the day. The gopro tech verified that. Their only suggestion was to change the angle of the camera.

it does the same thing if you ride at dusk with snow all over, the camera reads the snow as sunlight and it drops the amount of light it gathers, I did have sun spots worse with the old one more so than the HD one.

The lower the sun is the more you notice the spots. This is driving right into the sun and you can really see them but I never thought twice about it till you posted this.

Have noticed a little at times, probably an effect of having the camera in the protective clear case which you cannot do without. Inotherwise a lens over a lens....

Don't know what the front of the camera looks like, but if lens hood isn't available, try an old 35 mm camera trick. Attach a 3x5 index card with a rubber band to make an ersatz lens hood that blocks the suns rays. nojoke

How would that hold up to 65 mph? For some others around 100.

Can't help much at this time but have some ideas from my days as a photographer. Will know more when my GoPro arrives (just ordered). :2excited: I'm just a camera nut. :roflblack:
