There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Go Pro Cameras

Suction cup mounts have always made me nervous...
I ordered a bunch of parts from JT, and will be using his Dash mount...
(Now I've just got to remember to clean the windshield! :banghead:)

mounting

I use a helmet mount for mine and really like it . Tried a dashmount and too much vibration . Big problem I have is not being able to hear the beeps when turning on or off and then end up not videoing what I want . Bought a remote that shows what the camera is doing but have not been too, happy with it so far , battery doesn't seem to hold a charge. I have a 32gig card and it takes a lottttttttttttttttttttt of footage and like previously stated , you'll run out of battery first . Spare battery and charger is a must . Also have the lcd for mine which if riding with a corider she can look at the screen and tell me if it's recording or not. I'm not impressed with the editing software from gopro or maybe I'm just too old to figure it out. Rode Lamonts old stomping grounds this summer and have some excellent vids of the riding .

UPDATE...

I got the camera, got a mount, and have it mounted on the bike. :2thumbs:
Now I just need to figure out how to turn it on! nojoke

i am wondering if you will get any shaking from it, if so a small piece of Velcro wonder the mounting arm to the top pf the dash will help that

With our roads: I know that there'll be some shaking! :roflblack:
But if I had mounted it to my helmet: it would have looked like an earthquake in about the 15.5 category!

Figuring out how to run this thing is tougher than I figured...
This is going to require some late nights of reading! :D
On the bright side; I've got a 64 Gb micro-SD card coming, and it even is rated for the correct speed!

EDIT: Well; at least I've figured out hoe to get the camera out of the waterproof box...
The port for plugging it into the computer, and the micr-SD card slot have been found...

And I can turn it on and off now! :2thumbs:
A couple more days of this, and I'll be able to start making some test runs with it!

Hey Bob,
I was interested on getting a update on your go pro camera and your mount. Have you video' anything yet? What kind on quality did you get shooting though the windshield? Looks like your mount is a good solution to mounting a camera. When you can, would you please post a video. Thanks in Advance for your help:bowdown:

This is what you get with a helmet mounted GoPro on the chin bar.

Mine has the SENA BT MIC but the wired MIC will work just as good.

Bob

Great video Bob! I enjoyed watching it. I have had to put my Spyder to bed for winter, as the cold season is coming here quick in Canada, but it made me want to go in my garage and at least sit on it for now and dream about riding next season! Hey, you must have freaked out a couple of those pedal bikers when you crossed the yellow line a few times - lol! Just out of curiousity, do you have the BajaRon aftermarket torsion bar installed on your Spyder? If so, did you find a difference with it in the twisties there? I don't want to hijack this thread, so maybe send me a PM if you can.

I am thinking about getting the GoPro soon and I appreciate yours and all the other members contributions to this thread. Good info to help the newbie buyer.
You know, I think BRP should do a contest for the best Spyder riding video. I think perhaps if someone who doesn't own a Spyder would see how much fun and enjoyment we all get from riding our Spyders, it may help them sell a few more. Cheers!

Just get yourself one of these and you'll be on easy street. You can even mount it on your handlebars as well.

I do have one of them...
I've just got to figure out how to use it, to make the camera do what I want it to.

Thanks....

Yes I have the Baja Ron Sway Bar. So you know I did this exact ride 2 years prior without it. Yes it made a big difference in the twisties which is what it is for. I also have stock 2011 shock with preload set at 5.

I tried my GoPro on many locations on the bike and just got too much vibration for my liking. I settled with it on my helmet and I do like that as it looks where I look. But if your a bobble head ;) you might not like it there.

Bob D. I think that setup is going to give you too much vibrations with that long extension. The shorter the extension the better.
But a tip some may not know. Set the frame rate to 60. If you run at 30 you get a odd phasing of the image when there is vibrations to the camera. At 60 the vibrations are still there but you do not get that odd phasing issue. However, at 60 it's great for watching on your PC since you can run it at 60. BUT... when you upload to youtube or something, youtube reduces the frame rate to even lower than 30 and the phasing issue looks worse.

Just some info.

Bob D.
Also it looks like you have the GoPro screen add-on backpack? That things eats batteries! With that on you will be lucky if you get 30 minutes out of a battery.

FYI, you can get extra "after market" batteries on Ebay with higher milliamp rating (higher capacity) which gives you a bit more time recording.

Bob

One more FYI.... the GoPro Wifi remote causes you to have Wifi turned on. This also eats batteries faster.
So if your looking to get as much time filming as possible you wont want to use that.

Just sharing my experiences with using all these goodies which I have and have used.

In the end, if I want to film an entire ride I do not use that stuff. Then I use the editing software to trim and cut the ride to just the parts I want to share.

The GoPro editing software will get the editing job done it's just not easy to use in my opinion and has limits as to what you can do. Heck even adding a title to a video with that software is a pain in the neck! Took me like 40 minutes to figure out how to do that with the GoPro software and I know how to edit video! Thus I use Sony Vegas video editing software. It has a ton of features but is easy to use for basic editing.
