• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Glovebox won't latch - any ideas on how to fix this?

Peter Aawen - Is it worth merging this thread with the other one (Glovebox won’t latch) on the same issue from the OP? There are lots of duplicating answers.

Pete

Already on it, Pete, but it took a while - there's very little signal out where I am atm, and it's intermittent at that; plus, the bloody Search facility isn't working right now either, so I hadta scroll thru all the recent threads to find the right one!! :cus:

But now it's done! :ohyea:

Hi folks, as I mentioned, the dealership broke the keeper for the cable at the latch end. I went out this morning, pulled on the cable and it locked! I let the cable go and it unlocked. So I know that the latch mechanism is still good.
I am ordering a new glovebox from the dealer, ( believe it or not, only $65.00!) Now let's start taking the glovebox off!
Thanks for all of the replies and suggestions folks!

Intermittent signal? …….Well, you did choose a very backward state in which to live, Peter. Oh…..wait……my signal is very intermittent too :roflblack:

Any helpful hints on Glovebox removal? 2014 RTS

Hi folks, getting ready to replace the glovebox on my 2014 RTS.
Before jumping into it, any helpful hints?

Curious minds want to know. Are you talking about replacing the glovebox door/cover, or the glovebox cavity? And why would you replace it?

Now that Search is working again and I could finally find all the related threads, they've been merged; so looking back thru the earlier posts in what is now the complete saga (I hope?! :dontknow: ) will probably help explain the reason behind replacing the glovebox... And with any luck, it'll help people understand why the OP is after hints on replacing the glovebox too, so they can better answer his question/offer potentially helpful hints!

It would be sooo helpful to those reading or trying to follow issues like this thru to their final resolution if the OP's would only keep all the info and discussion on the one particular issue in just one thread, instead of scattering it piecemeal around the place, identifying the problem in one thread; the diagnosis in another; and the final resolution somewhere else (here maybe??) It might even help someone else out there who may have the same problem, possibly even in the years to come, to look for and find a solution!!

Just Imagine, being able to find a single thread that raises the problem someone's having; goes thru all the testing & diagnosis of it; offers hints on how to fix it; and then actually provides the final resolution too, and does it ALL in the one place/thread!! :yikes: :ohyea:

Sorry, but I hadta... She >> made me do it! :dg2:

Hi folks, I, or should I say we, just got finished replacing the latch for the glovebox! I had taken both side panels off, the black covers under those, and took everything I could find the glovebox attached too off! I asked my wonderful wife to take a look. (The project had layed doormat for several months!)
She took a quick look, said give me a #10 metric socket, took two bolts out, and viola, the entire glovebox came loose! I got out of her way while she replaced the latch!
It works great now!
The lesson is to keep taking stuff off until what needs to come off, does!
