• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Glove mounted camera?

So on my last trip, I passed so much scenery and interesting back road things, that I was wishing that there was some sort of glove that would hold a camera of some sort on the back side and would allow me to either video or take snap shots. This would allow me to not fear dropping my digital cam, or camcorder.

I was thinking a glove with some sort of pocket for one of the popular helmet cams... I found this... http://www.chutingstar.com/newgear_en/gopro-hd-hero-handcam-glove.html But was wondering if anyone had run across anything else.

That glove is interesting. Being designed for skydiving it aims back at the diver. I do not know if the camera can be reaimed. Have you considered a helmet-mounted camera??

Well.. My thought is that I can slow down or stop and aim better with it on the back of my hand.... Beats unzipping the pocket and doing it.

Helmet cam could work great as they have photo and film modes. The Drift cams can be triggered with a remote switch on the handlebars.

I have the gopro wrist mount and found it fairly useless; unless you hold your wrist level (horizontally) your pics will be at a slant. But, I was using in the video mode while hiking/snow shoeing; if you are going to shoot pics. and take your time, it may be okay. JMO.

The GoPro is very compact and takes great video but I can't picture it mounted on my hand and driving at the same time. Rather unsafe. I wish it had a remote. Once you start it stays on unless you pull over to stop it. You can't see the blinking light and back pack monitor sucks up too much battery. I would like to see a smartphone app that can control the camera and be a monitor. RAM mount sells clamps for the phones. BTW the suction cup pretty much sucks. Don't trust them for long.

I don't think you'll get good pics with a wrist cam.

I'd simply go with a helmet mount with a drift.....

I must invent it then.

Really... The point is to have the camera readily accessible - which means more readily accessible than a pocket. I don't imply that it adds danger to riding as all of my still shots are done parked/pulled over to the side. Point is, the more readily I can take a shot, the more I take and the more I can stop... Now I lose too much time every time I find a great vista to take a picture of, etc.

It will come down to velcro and duct tape.

Drift HD

I too would like to be able to take quick snapshots while on a trip. After much research on camera mounts I decided to bite the bullet and simply purchase the Drift HD helmet cam with remote.
I will have a suction mount primarily for video and a helmet mount when I want to take stills. The selling point for me, over the GoPro, is the remote control that I can strap to my wrist or the handlebar of my RT while on the road. The "new and improved" Drift HD is available Sept. 1st and I have pre ordered so I can get it before my annual fall color run to the upper peninsula.
Once I have had the opportunity to use this new toy I will post my review.
