There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Glo-Ryders NOT legal in Maryland...

Got this info. for anyone from MD...kinda bummed as I would've liked to have had these on my bike...

Lights on wheels are illegal. See a summary of the law below noting the part in red:

22-221.(l). Motorcycle Illumination

Motorcycles may be equipped with auxiliary illumination to make the motorcycle more conspicuous and help protect the operator. Lighting may include:

1. Standard bulb running lights; or

2. Light-emitting diode pods and strips;

3. Blue dot illumination:

a. Not to exceed 3/4 of an inch in diameter; and

b. May be located only on the rear as part of, or adjacent to the brake light.

Lighting shall be:

1. Non-blinking;

2. Non-flashing;

3. Non-oscillating; and

4. Directed toward the engine and drive train.

Lighting may not:

1. Be attached to the wheels; or

2. Emit a red, or blue light.

I would be bummed out also, so sorry about that!
That is something I haven't even checked into. :yikes:

Does anyone know if that goes the same for MO?

Thanks in advance :2thumbs:

Changing your stock pipe is illegal too. That wouldn't stop me from putting them on. You could turn them off if you got stopped but chances are you never would as long as they weren't blue or red.

Regarding the pipe, that's a good point...although the hindle does have the Can-Am name on it and it looks stock. I'm not sure cops will check your pipe for decibel levels unless there is a complaint.

As far as lighting goes, MD had a really contentious debate about this topic until the new law was passed in mid-2008. Lights are easy to see at night vs. a pipe..you'd want to think that cops would be cool about lights, but if they're not, you're an easy target. I would go with the yellow...

I'm not sure what the punishment would be, but I'm not sure I want to take the chance. If it was a simple warning or $25.00 ticket, I'd probably give it a go as my visibility at night trumps that penalty...if it's worse, it might not be worth it...

It's sad they aren't allowed...they are offensive to nobody and as far as I'm concerned, they give off the same amount of light as those lights that go under the engine of two-wheelers which are legal...the lights don't go outward...

Depending on the officer that pulled you, most likely you would only get a warning and be told that you need to correct the issue (i.e. remove them). At that point you can either choose to comply, or continue taking your chances in hopes the same officer does not pull you over again.

This exact situation happened to me in SC with the tint on the widshield of my Mustang. Due to the curve of the windshield, the tint dropped below the line on the outside edges. Whenever I was stopped at a police check point, they would give me a warning ticket and tell me to fix it. I collected 7 warning tickets before I eventually sold the car. ;)

Back in the day, I would have used the aux lights or pipes as a reason for a traffic stop if I had other suspicions that needed further investigation.
Reasonable Suspicion --> Probably Cause --> Citation or Arrest.

It just isn't right

You can't put something on your ryde that makes you more visible and more safe, and bothers NO ONE, but you can install lights that effectlively blind the :cus: out of traffic in the oncoming lane.:dontknow:

^ This. As much as I respect the popo, I make it a rule to never invite them into my life.

i have the blue ones on mine here in Texas and was pulled over for speeding at night. police didn’t mention anything about them, even had blue leds under the bike on. In fact he liked the spyder so much that I only received a warning after talking to him for 15 minutes about the spyder…
I truly believe police will not pull you over for small infractions of the law like this on motorcycles.

The problem is not the noise. the db level of the Hindle is legal. The problem is that there is no catalytic converter in the Hindle. The emissions are illegal. I'm not sure how many states do emissions testing :dontknow:

Hanging nitrous bottles off the back of your bike is illegal too and even though I've been pulled over for speeding with them on I've never been ticketed for them and I've been riding cross country like this for years. nojoke

This bike had nitrous-supercharger and flame throwers. :D

:agree: i bought a set, can't understand our highway traffic act, so in march [hopefully] i will see what happens with them, if i get pulled over i will plead stupid.

I too live in MD, and it wouldn't keep me from getting them. I like them, but there are a ton of other things I am trying to right now. I do have green LED's which are legal, and I couldnt see getting pulled over for the Glo-Ryders.

A few years ago i was stopped for speeding. When the Officer came over to me,
I asked him in no uncertain terms why are you stopping me?
I'm only doing 50mph,
He smiled and said the limit here is 30mph.
Then he shook his head and said get out of here and don't let me see you again.
SOME TIMES STUPID WORKS .:opps:
