There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

but no, I believe it was a 'Cloudflare' issue - I reckon it was more likely just Cloudflare doing its job well and protecting us from being swamped by a whole bunch of dodgy 'actors' of some sort. 
Cloudflare basically behaves a little bit like a fuse or an automatically re-setting circuit breaker - if it gets swamped by too many questionable attempts at connection to the servers, it stops letting any connections thru until the over-load/attack goes down to manageable levels... and these dodgy 'actors' didn't just hit us!

I figured it was a 'Denial-of-service attack'. As you say, Peter. The server deals with it as a fusible link. If you reset right away, they just keep hitting the server and it will go right back down again. You have to give it time to subside before you flip the switch back on. I'd like to see some prosecution of these perpetrators. But they are very good at avoiding any consequences to themselves. Still, I would be in favor of some kind of reverse energy pulse to fry their toys.
