• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Don't throw away the jail.......

They should throw him in jail... and then throw away the jail! :gaah:

"They should throw him in jail... and then throw away the jail!"

No, the problem is our judicial system - the judges are the ones who dole out these ridiculous slap-on-the-wrist sentences after the police officer puts his/her life on the line arresting these MORONS. And how many chances to "clean up your act" do these offenders get? Make the offender suffer the CONSEQUENCES of his/her actions. How about sentences that actually "inconvenience" the offender instead of adding the conditions that make it easy: "May drive ONLY for work purposes." "Ignition Interlock must be installed for 6 months" (SIX MONTHS?) "Subject to random drug testing." "Must report weekly/monthly to probation officer." (And if all goes well, they can phone it in after THREE!) "Must attend 4 alcohol classes." WHOA! Four? How Cruel!! And then, of course, you have my favorite "Probation Before Judgement."

Maybe if these judges would have to go to an accident scene and see the victim smeared across a section of asphalt or get their shoes sticky as they step in brain matter, things would change. I'm not holding my breath and I'm jumpin' off my soap box now! :dontknow:

Yikes...!!

That is almost unbelieveable...:yikes: :bowdown: it was the bike stuck on the bumper....hope the rider recovers from this...wow..!!

You're talking to a fellow who had his best friend killed by a drunk driver...
If I could do it: I'd break every bone in both of their hands... and KEEP them broken with timely applications of further justice.
Make it so that they can't hold a steering wheel or beer bottle; until a panel composed of victims of drunk driving accidents said that justice had been served! nojoke

I have no patience for this kind of ****!

And I've seen where the offender may also attend his kid's Little League games!

My ex-husband once got 4 DUIs in 5 days! He was in and out of treatment several times while I was still married to him, and he had the scripts well-memorized. He was able to keep driving with the help of a smart lawyer. He eventually died from drug and alcohol abuse.

The fellow in the attached article needs a full-time keeper, preferably in uniform and behind bars. :lecturef_smilie:

Patti,
I had no idea... I'm sorry to hear that you had to live through all of that.

Michigan is pretty harsh on them. You're in for a good $5,000 fine. Had a friend get a 'super DUI'... which means anyone over twice the limit. It was no cakewalk. His ankle tether could read if he had alcohol in his system. So drinking of any kind was not tolerated. Car was eventually fitted with a breathalyzer after like 6 or 9 months. He paid closer to $20K with all the fines, charges for tethers, etc.

Not sure of the answer to this problem, but groups like MADD have made a big difference. DUI accidents and deaths are way down from what they were 20-30 years ago. Distracted driving.... cell phone use in particular is a bigger problem now and causes more accidents... usually worse ones because a drunk is usually at least trying to drive.... where a person texting has their eyes off the road. I get really pissed every time I see people texting while driving... which is all the time!

Hope this guy pulls through and they throw the book at the jeep driver.

Hey Patti, I think I was married to his brother..... :banghead:

Heaven forbid we should take away an individual's rights...... :gaah:

In the meantime, it destroys the victim's family, or if he survives, it can financially ruin a family trying to pay medical bills. It seems as though the only people the justice system protects are defendants and those "little darling" juveniles........ :banghead:

according to mayor deblasio dui/dwi is no big crime. maybe if he were on the bike he might change his mind.

From what I understand this only applies to illegals. The mayor doesn't want the NYPD to charge them with a DWI/DUI the criminal record would make it easier for ICE to deport them. Hum mm! don't they already have a criminal record for being here illegally. Just saying.

YES but it doesn't matter who does the dwi when you are the victim. just making that statement while you try to enforce vision zero
makes you one of the dumbest, liberal, two faced people on the planet.
DWI is a crime & should be treated as such to the fullest extent of the law.
