They should throw him in jail... and then throw away the jail! :gaah:
And I've seen where the offender may also attend his kid's Little League games!"They should throw him in jail... and then throw away the jail!"
No, the problem is our judicial system - the judges are the ones who dole out these ridiculous slap-on-the-wrist sentences after the police officer puts his/her life on the line arresting these MORONS. And how many chances to "clean up your act" do these offenders get? Make the offender suffer the CONSEQUENCES of his/her actions. How about sentences that actually "inconvenience" the offender instead of adding the conditions that make it easy: "May drive ONLY for work purposes." "Ignition Interlock must be installed for 6 months" (SIX MONTHS?) "Subject to random drug testing." "Must report weekly/monthly to probation officer." (And if all goes well, they can phone it in after THREE!) "Must attend 4 alcohol classes." WHOA! Four? How Cruel!! And then, of course, you have my favorite "Probation Before Judgement."
Maybe if these judges would have to go to an accident scene and see the victim smeared across a section of asphalt or get their shoes sticky as they step in brain matter, things would change. I'm not holding my breath and I'm jumpin' off my soap box now! :dontknow:
He can't change what he doesn't have.according to mayor deblasio dui/dwi is no big crime. maybe if he were on the bike he might change his mind.
Patti,My ex-husband once got 4 DUIs in 5 days! He was in and out of treatment several times while I was still married to him, and he had the scripts well-memorized. He was able to keep driving with the help of a smart lawyer. He eventually died from drug and alcohol abuse.
The fellow in the attached article needs a full-time keeper, preferably in uniform and behind bars. :lecturef_smilie:
Patti,
I had no idea... I'm sorry to hear that you had to live through all of that.

From what I understand this only applies to illegals. The mayor doesn't want the NYPD to charge them with a DWI/DUI the criminal record would make it easier for ICE to deport them. Hum mm! don't they already have a criminal record for being here illegally. Just saying.
