• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Getting to the headlightbulbs F3-S

I keep forgetting to look when I have the main side panel plastics off, but is that all's that's necessary to remove so you can reach up behind the headlamps and twist out the bulbs?

TIA

It's a bit more involved than that. Also depends if you have a windshield, etc. My first time took me several hours; but if you take your time it will be well worth it!

HEADLIGHT BULBS

Step by step instructions are in your owner's manual. I did it when replacing the OEM headlights with LED's. It took me about an hour from start to finish but wasn't hard. Just follow each step exactly in your manual.

read the Book!

Thanks JKMSpyder:

I asked the forum because reading through the owner's manual on the BRP website, I only found how to aim the headlights and saw nothing there about bulb replacement.

After reading your note above, I popped out to the garage and retrieved my hard copy of the Owner's Manual and -- lo and behold -- just as you say, there are the directions.

Since I have an F4 windshield installed, I'll have a few more nuts and bolts to keep track of!

Guess I'll order the LED bulbs from Lamonster and have them on hand for some nice winter day when I can relax and enjoy the job.

Headlight bulb replacement

Put in Lamonster led's today. Took me 3 hours because I have an f3 and the Lamonster video led me astray taking off the side panels. Not necessary as determined in my f3 owners manual. I had to remove the windshield and dash panel. Still a job for small hands, that I don't have. Very happy with the led lights

Fog lights installation does required removal of the side fairings, there's NO getting around that! However, the side fairings on the F3 are easy peasy to remove.

I posted the video early this morning and it is not for everyone; trust me on that! It was to demonstrate that it could be done or that it was possible but NOT idially. If you're going to do both headlights and fog lights, take the time and remove the covers necessary otherwise you'll be cursing like a sailor.

The T and the S are pretty much the same.

Nice video but why not do the install with an F3S? I don't think you need to remove the dash or mirror for that model. It would have been nice to know little things like when you must remove the windshield some of the fasteners are just screws and when you remove others there are tiny little nuts that disappear into the engine canyon. Now I need to figure out where to get more. Also the switch for the fog lights did not fit the hole in the plastic. I didn't want to hammer it in or use pliers so I took out my pocket knife to scrape out some clearance, cut my finger, cussed and bumped the big nut that holds the switch into the lost forever engine canyon. At least the switch fits now and a bit of silicone sealer is holding it fine. Ok, I'm just whining, but an F3 is not just an F3, there are many models from the factory that are at times very different and need to be shown as different. Just frustrated, I apologize if anyone takes my ranting personally.

Welcome, sure you will like riding it.

Its going to be different. Stay in the neighborhood till your used to it and work up to fast riding in winding roads. Won't take long before it's second nature.

I don't think you need to remove the dash or mirror for that model.

The lateral console panel needs be slightly re-position in order to gain better access to the headlight housing assembly and the only way to do that is by removing the mirrors and the windshield. The dash doesn't need to come off.

LOL! that happened to me while I was working the signature light, I dropped a tiny nut so I started loosening the bottom maintenance panels and in the process I found a 10mm socket, a #1 Phillips bit and of course my little nut. Apparently the prior owner or the mechanic were too lazy or not mechanically inclined for the job.

Also the switch for the fog lights did not fit the hole in the plastic. I didn't want to hammer it in or use pliers so I took out my pocket knife to scrape out some clearance

The switch diameter is 19mm and since it is a latching switch you have to screw it in. I believe that the 16mm one will pop in there with no problem but it will not be a snug fit.

Don't be too hard on yourself dude, at least you're learning and getting acquainted with your trike. My last motorcycle was a Ducati and Italians do things the mafia way; you have to pay them or else. The Spyder F3 isn't hard to work on at all.

So that's where my battery post nut went!

Thanks, bad thing is the bike is new so I don't think I'll find any treasure. :)
its maddening, I have a huge shop a wall full of tools and a big roll away full. Even have a vehicle lift. I can rebuild differentials, engines and spent over 30 years fabricating. I spent 6 years in the military repairing missile fire control systems, been to college and I'm having trouble changing headlight bulbs on a motorcycle. :gaah::gaah::gaah:
