• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Getting "Check Engine" light?

Queen B's '08 Gs SM5 was bringing up the check engine light a lot. Changed sparkplugs and wires and replaced the 'Y' gaskeets. No problem since.;);)

This is the first time I've seen this, Scotty, an I've been snuffling around gathering info from this forum since at least Dec. 2010. I've got to say I'm darn grateful to you for posting this secretive Inspector Clueseau-type work-around, having the secret code is a huge help in understanding WTF is going on! Now if you just happen to have a list of Fault Codes and what they mean I'll be able to throw my WWII Enigma machine out with the trash! :roflblack:
Easiest thing on the fault codes is to post here to get them interpreted. There are too many to list in a thread. They are in the shop manual (as is the procedure) if you have a copy.

Bad Y-gaskets could, indeed, cause a check engine light, as they can affect the O2 sensor.

I had to change my Y-gaskets at 6,000 miles, they just started to leak on the left side. I replaced the BRP Y-gaskets with Honda and they were a lot less money for a better product. The old ones were burned off at the bottom. That's IMHO.

Thanks, have not notice any shift problems, hope it holds up till next service.

Even though you haven't noticed any performance changes or limp mode (yet) Think of that check engine light as an early warning system. You can choose to ignore it and hope you make it till the next service or you can have it checked and possibly prevent an even larger problem. Experience is an excellent teacher. :lecturef_smilie:

Vibration

I have experienced heavy vibration throughout bike going down a hill, backing off on throttle in 4th or 5th gear at 4K to 4.2K. (If you put power to it, the vibration goes away). It didn't happen for the 1st year but now it is getting worse. Dealer says it's normal but I don't think so.

So why are you bringing up 2 year old post?

With a seemingly un-related issue?
Yesterday you posted your bike was still in the shop with a third blown transmission.
What possible joy do you get from posting nonsens?
