• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

welcome The First thing I would get is an extended warranty on your Spyder, when you get it. After that, it depends on your funds as to what mods to get.

If you go to the Home Page and scroll down you'll find a lot of places you can check online for the mods your interested in. They also give you their prices, so you'll know what they will cost.

As for the key thing you mentioned. I got two keys and a ring. I had another key made and keep it in my wallet, incase I loose the one I'm using and won't be stranded. Having a second key made at Walmart has always been a mod I do with all my vehicles. Seems I have more keys in my wallet than cash at times. :roflblack:

Hi PCBeachBum have you tried to start your :spyder2: with your Walmart key ? I would be surprised if it would work because of the computer chip in the regular key .:dontknow:

welcome
Trying not to sound like your Old Man,:yikes: The first thing you should get is a good helmet and safety gear,
Then take a Safety Course. So once you get your licence you can add stuff to the Spyder.
Enjoy your self have fun :2thumbs: If you need any more info this is the place to come to [Spyderlovers]

I bet you can't wait to get one.

Hello Spyder Laxer,
I agree with PCBeachbum; Definitely get the extended warranty. Could be worth its weight in GOLD. My 08 Spyder with 16XXX miles on it has been in the shop for 3 months. Spark plug wire problem. Replaced both head gaskets, Replaced the gear sensor selector inside the engine and am having the bearings replaced in the engine/tranny where the belt comes in. All under warranty! If not, I can't imagine the cost involved. This is also an expensive machine for regular maintenance if you have the shop take care of things. You are riding on something totally unique. Cutting edge technology and it is going to cost you. To help save you some money though, you may consider purchasing a used spyder. It is what I did back in Sept. 08. Bought off Craigslist. Saved me a couple thousand dollars and I didn't have to wait for one to come to the dealership. There was a 3 month wait for these machines when I bought mine.
2nd, we have some real good vendors on the home page for accessories. Also check the 4sale section here for parts or a whole Spyder for that matter. Best of luck when it comes time. It is a blast to ride and I really enjoy the 3 wheel stance. Oh yea, just want to warn you that people are going to be treating you like a rockstar when you get one of these things. Everybody is going to be looking at you, asking you questions etc. giving you the thumbs up etc. Have fun.

welcome

You have gotten some very good advice so far. One of the cool things about the Spyder mods is there are so many different ways you can make your Spyder uniquely yours. Whether you want to keep it sporty, or make it more of a cruiser, there are accessories to help you get there.

Getting good ryding gear, and taking a safety course will be very important for you. Not only for your own protection, but it should help with the cost of insurance as well.
