There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Getting a pull-behind trailer

OK, I'm ready to look for a trailer so I can take some serious long-distance trips. I currently have the Givi hardbag system attached and want to know what my options are for a hitch.
First, is there a hitch that will fit with this, or will I need to remove the entire rack to mount a hitch?
Second, what difficulty is there in wiring up the Spyder for a trailer?
I appreciate whatever advice is out there!

You'll get plenty of suggestions on this one (just a few less than what kind of oil to use).

After several thousand miles riding behind a Bushtec (and watching many others) the Bushtec is the only one I could recommend.

Trailers are defininetly not all the same. You just can't go wrong with a Bushtec for a lot of reasons.

One of the reasons is the hitch. You'll get opinions on this as well but Bushtec is the only company I know that makes a suspended (as opposed to a non-suspended) hitch. In my opinion that's the only way to go. Costs more but it's done right, will last years, and is safe.

Yes, that is a very good hitch; I've heard good things about it. My question, however, is still whether or not that hitch, or any hitch, can work with my Givi bag setup. (And secondly, how difficult is it to wire up any trailer to the Spyder?)

Chances are the Bushtec hitch will not work with your bags

Corbin now offers a trailer you might look into that and see if it will work with your bags as well.

Thanks, Lamonster. I was afraid of that. (I saw your trailer hook-up at the Homecoming, but I didn't spend enough time looking it over.) Did you wire up the trailer yourself? Much problem?

The Bushtec hitch might be able to work with the Givi bag rack but you will definitely have to do a little finagling to get them both on there. They occupy a little of the same space but a determined Spyder owner might be able to find and make the necessary modifications to the Givi rack to have it fit with the Bushtec. The only two options I've seen for a no hassle hitch / Givi bag setup would be one of the swing arm mounted hitches (not recommended) or a hitch from AST that works with their trailers (also not recommended). The AST hitch mounts high on the Spyder, to the frame right behind the stop light but their trailers, the price and their customer service leave much to be desired.

givi compatible hitch

The only frame mounted hitch I've seen with the Givi bags is the one from a Canadian company that you can get from HitchUSA. They say it isn't compatible on their web site but ciguy50 has it on his bike with the bags and said it fit just fine with no modifications.

Thanks! I just found that hitch, and you're right, they DO say it will not work with the bags. BUT if someone else has done it, I would really like to hear from them. The hitch, from the pic, does seem like it might work... with a little bit of adjustment, however.

We just installed the Givi bag mounts from Industries7. Based on what I see of Lamonster's Spyder, I think a Bushtec hitch would be a close enough fit with these to be worth trying. You would probably need a longer bolt at the lower forward/passenger peg mounts. Can't say for sure about the upper mount, as I don't know where that attaches.

If there is anyone in/near MN with a B hitch, we could meet to be sure.

Bushtec would be our first choice.
