• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Gas Stablizer

I have a bottle of gas stabilizer (unopened) in my garage that is about 8 years old. Anyone know if these additives would still be good after that long? I'd hate to but it in my Spyder to keep the gas fresh, only to find out the additive is stale!!

Sta-Bil

This is right off the Sta-Bil website.

The shelf life of all STA-BIL® brand products is 2 years after the bottle has been opened, provided it has been tightly capped and stored in a cool, dry place. If the product has not yet been opened, you should use the color of the fluid as an indicator. If the product is still bright red, it is fine to use. If the product has turned to a very dark red (or brown) color, we recommend purchasing a new bottle. It will not harm anything if you use an old bottle of STA-BIL® brand, it just may not be as effective.

That's great info right there!

If the color is a bright red it's good and if the red fluid has stained the bottle don't use it. I have found that the MarineSTA-BIL works better in motorcycles due to the heat cycles of the gas tank. That's IMHO.

Learned something new about gas stabilizer today. I will be purchasing a new bottle for this year. Thanks for the information.

Stabilizer

Actually I have an old bottle of 'Maxium' stabilizer, not Sta-Bil, but I will be buying a new bottle of Sta-Bil tomorrow. That is what I used in all my other bikes. The bottle of Maxium was one that my recently deceased son had in his garage for his bike, so I really don't know how old it is.
