There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Gas mileage

:chat: I just purchased my Spyder RT and was disappointed at the gas mileage, average 30 mpg on 87 Octane. I just tried my first tank of 93 Octane and got 34.2.

You shouldn't be disappointed at that. I think that's better than average. Before my clutch replacement, I averaged 25.6 mpg. After, I've averaged 23.0. You must be doing something right.

That's Not Bad. What Kind of riding- City or Highway. I have a RS and Get about 25 in town riding and somewhere between 35- 40 highway/interstate. I didnt buy for the fuel savings but for the ride its self

:congrats:welcome Some get a little better as the engine breaks in ,although you are doing pretty good already !

Your fuel mileage is already pretty darned good for an RT. I averaged less than 27 for the 6,000 miles and nine months I had my first RTS. Premium fuel has less heat capacity than regular gas. Like ethanol, it will get poorer mileage if all things are equal. Premium fuel is recommended for the RT, however. When you run the RT on regular, the timing is retarded, and it runs a tiny bit worse. Mileage is usually reduced as a result. With premium fuel it can run as it was designed.

Gas mileage response

I was used to my goldwing getting 40 plus MPG. I definitely noticed that my Spyder ran better on the premium. The 34 plus MPG was mostly with another passenger on board. The riding was a combination of open road and county roads cruising. No hot-dogging.

That's great milage. I get about 28 average. Spoke to a gentleman yesterday who has a 2011 RT SE5 on order. I told him fuel economy is one of my concerns about the RTS.

It just won't sip fuel like a 'Wing... too much frontal area getting pushed down the road. It will get better as things loosen up though...

I ran regular for about the first 1000 miles (now have over 2100) on our 2010 RT. I am now running premium. The $.20 per gallon difference is not a concern for a Spyder that I paid $20,000+ for. The engines runs a lot smoother, fires flawlessly. I am not into riding on the edge. Just love to ride and enjoy nature and life. With all the winds and mountains we have in our area it will be hard to get 30 mpg. I have noticed that it seems to have improved a little. It is very hard to calculate mpg because of all the varying circumstances involved with spontaneous checking. I just do a mental round off to get an idea and ride.

Discount Gas card

I use a Hess credit card and they give 3 percent back on gasoline purchases, so burning premium puts the price close to regular. I also use my American Express acquired at COSTCO and they give a 5 percent rebate on purchases. This helps.

It seems to me with all of the other costs of owning a spyder, the fuel is a minor issue. My big operational cost is the maintenance; I have never owned anything that has so many things to inspect and service with such frequency.

Typical for BMW motorcycles, too, albeit at higher mileage intervals. Nothing compared to owning a Mercedes or Jaguar, from what I hear.

While my spyder is the most expensive vehicle I have ever owned to maintain, including three BMW cars; it is by far the most fun. I just hope my wife doesn't find out what it costs to run!

RT-S, almost 11,000 miles. Mostly "around town riding", (probably 80%) and the rest countryside & interstate (probably 20%), riding solo 70%, passanger 30%, average gas mileage between 29 and 31 mpg, usually use 93 octane, but some 87.

I run premium fuel and get 33+ average on a regular basis. And that is riding hard. If I dial it back a bit I find that I achieve 36+. But I am an RT guy and keep a good, slippery wax on 14's surfaces so naturally I am going to fair better than the RT folks...

gas milage

just rolled over 3600 miles and my:spyder2:is doing mid 30's all the time never use anything but high test 93

Don't know about Mercedes, But it used to be when you bought a Jaguar they would give you a Tow truck for a back up.:roflblack:
