I just filled up and I got 30.8 mpg. it now has 632 miles on it and no problems so far. other than the brake squeel

update 3/5/08

rode to daytona on us1 and a1a yesterday. made 4 stops. mostly 60 mph not over 70 in spurts.

just filled up 36.1 mpg. seems the spyder likes long steady runs for good milage. i average 33 arround town

going back to daytona about 10:30. gotta cruise the harley area at I-95 and letem see a real bike.

tomorrow is another day. if it clears up tomorrow will be my 3rd visit this week. pray for some good ole fla sunshine.

30 - 32 MPG over 2000 miles. Part of the problem in calculating the MPG is that the tank is difficult to fill up to the same level each time. It is a 6.5 tank, but I have never been sure just when it is full. In any event , I am happy with the overall mpg.

i too tried to work out milage

i have done 1200 km and filled up 4 times plus a full tank when we picked it up

we worked out about 200 to 250 per tank.

but hey

i ride it i fill it i ride it i fill it......cant let my pretty girl get thirsty

thirsty girl means no riding for me ;D

I think I might have a gas issue. I am getting about 155 to 160 miles to a tank. Is this right? :dontknow: I have about 625mil on the bike at the moment, and I have not gone thru my first service yet. But I was expecting alittle better, like in the upper 30s.

How many gallons to a "tank"? If your getting 155-160 miles between fillups, thats fine if 5 gallons or less are going in each time.

It also depends how your driving it. At 630 miles you just broken in, so probably not a lot of highway miles. And the engine has more friction when new, so I will get better. Time to change the oil, if you have not already.

I ryde daily to work and in town I average about 32mpg - I have 6000 miles. However when I ryde for pleasure on the weekends - holding stop an dgo to a minimum I get about 38mpg. The best I have ever done is 40mpg. but who is complaining - I bought it to ryde and it gets smuch better mileage than my Durango. So I just smile each time I get to the pump - :2thumbs:

well... after running to leesburg, fl, last Sat, I got 30 mpg running for the most part 60+ and pulling my trailer.. I guess the ole girl is a-ok on the mileage..
you wanna see check the florida chapter, Leesburg Event, then look at the video that DOC made...

mileage

Over all, at 1,400 miles, on a month old 2008 SE5, I have gotten 33 mpg.
When I am doing city driving - it averages around 31 mpg.
Like the others, highway runs get up to 40 and no less than 36 mpg.

The worse I ever got was 26 mpg ( I had to use premium gas ) and was mostly in the city and under 600 miles on the odometer.

The best was 42 mpg and I was hardly ever under 55 mph. Those miles happened after 1,000 on the odometer.

I am spoiled however, my BMW F650GS averages 69 mpg. But, I am happy with the Spyder getting just half of that.

Three wheel mpg vs. two wheel

I don't think the Spyder gets bad gas mileage for a trike. My 2007 Roadliner only gets about 40 mpg most of the time. Yes it has an 1885cc motor, which can get very thirsty if I hamfist the throttle a lot ( low 30's). I have also gotten high 40's (47-48) on trips. Hopefully soon I can get to learn firsthand what mpg a Spyder can get.

Yea, I saw a Boss Hoss over the weekend at Ted's in Alton, IL. A trike with a 350 c.i., 400 hp. and if this guy who owns it behaves himself, he gets around 13 mpg. :yikes:

When I first got the bike, I was getting 26mpg...now I'm getting between 30 and 32...no question as the bike gets broken it, it performs better...oh, and as the rider gets broken in too, it also gets better...if you drive with more quick accelerations, you'll see the bike sit around 28mpg...

I'm not one to sit on the highway at 55mph...it's simply too boring...I'll keep within post speed limits as best as I can but once in a while a little spurt is necessary to get around slower traffic...what a rush that is...

I'd be quite happy with 140-150. We have seen as little as 120-130 per tank with ours. Count your blessings.

Scotty, that's because you gun the bike at every stop and always ride at usual 100mph highway speeds...

P.S. Here's to post #1000!!!! Wow...what a feeling!

"He don't know me very well, do he?" Sorry, I got all that crap out my system decades ago with the fuel bikes and fuel dragsters. I doubt that either the Spyder or my BMW has ever seen full throttle. I'm probably the biggest granny you ever saw. Like my wife says, "You're just no fun anymore." :joke:
