• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

gas milage

I usually get about 32-33 around town and about 40 on my long rides... but yesterday I rode from Sacto over the hill to Carson City, NV. 125 miles and the damn thing only took 2.43 gallons to fill up in Carson City -- that's something like 50 mpg, right?? Used the cruise control for some of that, and not much traffic, but I sure wasn't expecting that.

On the way back over 431 today, returned to about 35 mpg -- it was freakin' cold up on Mt Rose - 28 degrees with a 30 mph wind. Had the wind in my face all the way home.

So going East I should get really fine mileage....

Never heard of 40-50 with this bike...low 30s sounds about right...it is not possible to get that high at highway speeds of 65-75mph...your tach is too high...too much fuel...if we had a 6th forward gear then maybe, but with only the five, we're not that efficient at that speed...

If you ride at 55mph and stay constant (cruise), then mid/upper 30s is quite good...one thing about this bike is that consistent filling is necessary and it's virtually impossible to do...I try to top off the tank each time I fill it up, but I know I'm probably off by at least a 1/4 gallon each time.

All I know is if I break 30mpg, I'm happy...

I have a hybrid if I want to go for good mileage...this bike is made to be ridden hard! Too much fun not to hit the throttle and have some fun at times...

I talked to a few people about mileage for the Spyder. They all tell me that the more you ride it the better mileage you will get. Of course, I didn't buy Spydie for gas mileage. I bought it to have fun.

Agreed...more fun to ride it for fun than worry about riding slow to get a few more mpg...I have a hybrid and I play that game...not with the spyder...it's made to be ridden hard!!!!!

"He don't know me very well, do he?" Sorry, I got all that crap out my system decades ago with the fuel bikes and fuel dragsters. I doubt that either the Spyder or my BMW has ever seen full throttle. I'm probably the biggest granny you ever saw. Like my wife says, "You're just no fun anymore." :joke:

Maybe you got a family of mice living in the airbox blocking the airflow and dragging the MPGs down. Give it some throttle on occasion. I could show up and give it the same treatment I gave your other three wheeler. ;) :joke: :D

A few years ago when I went for my test drive I was told that when :spyder2:'s actually come out you'll see 50mpg easy. I thought cool. When I took mine home a few months ago and was only getting 28 to 30 mpg I wasn't not happy. Then I realized it's not about the mpg it's about the ride. Lets ride.:ohyea::yes:
