• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Today 6 other spyders and I went for a long ride . I almost ran out of gas , I rode 26 miles with no bars . When finally got to a gas station I put 5.79 gallons, my new reord. What is the most gas that anybody has put on their spyders?

millage

I feal your pain i go on ride swith other spyder riders mostly rs im running out long before them, and my shift is always at 4000,

GAS TANK RECORD

I think the RECORD is your's ......:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:....:roflblack:, just kidding I put in 5.92 gal once and I am sure it was sucking fumes at that point because even tho they claim it's a 6.6 gal tank when absolutely full to the max you cannot get 6.6 gal out via the gas line to the throttle bodies......Mike..

The only way tha I dare to attempt to beat that number is having a tow truck follow me around until there is no more fumes. At least I have the local record.

5.9 And coasted dry into a gas station,
P/S when ever i try that stunt like that i keep a gal and a half extra tank in the trunk.

26 miles with no bars . I ran out of gas once. On my way to have my first maintenance check. When the last bar went away, so did my power. IMMEDIATELY!!!! I was sitting on the side of the road in knee deep grass:opps::opps: When the last bar appears now, I begin to get very nervous. I

have an RS(RED SIPHON) SE5.

My record as far as gallons put in is 6.136, I have a picture of it, the distance traveled 221 miles.
I had my throttle body replaced at Spyderfest III, since my fuel mileage has gone up by 2 mpg. I am now averaging 35.18 mpg over the last 11 fill ups and frequently getting within a few miles of 200 or better before fill up.

Disclaimer: I travel secondary roads primarily and get on the interstate a couple of times per tank for 10 miles each time, but do travel 2 up the majority of the time. Quantities are after the throttle body replacement.

2010 RT-S, right at 35,000 miles.

Just curious...you're not hitting the throttle much? To get 35mpg, you really have to be riding gently. I got 35 on a tank once or twice, but that was when I was riding in a big group at 55mph for a long distance...I average just under 30 now but I ride quite spirited...

Most people agree that about the max you can get in the tank is really close to 6 gallons. The numbers mentioned slightly over six are definately records in my book. I always get gas as quickly as possible once the light comes on. I always gas up before going on any trip so I start with a full tank.

6.4 gallons and 192.5 miles on that tank. The walk to the service station was only about 1/2 miles. Now I fill up when I am at 4 bars.

I'm glad you wrote Bob. I missed reading on your adventures. Your style is unique, like a travel magazine, and makes the reader want to visit where you went. I've been a fan of your blog since before we first met at the 09 Owners Event. Remember?

I ran out of bars on my trip to Durango went about 180 miles on that tank, ran out in front of the pump in Sanders, AZ had to roll the spyder to fuel pump. It help exactly 6 gallons till fuel splashed out, I guess if pumps were made differently I could have squeezed .6 in but I have reached the limit that I want to push.
I did have an extra gallon I was carrying for emergency so it was a fun test! :yikes:

Bone Crusher,
I would not say that I ride conservatively, but I don't spend a lot of time on the interstates. I shift at a little above 4000 most of the time and ride a lot of secondary roads or highways. I don't ride aggressively all the time, but do have my moments. It is my daily rider so going to work in the morning is mainly "cruising" with a little aggressiveness mixed in, going home in the afternoon, weeknights or weekends is the time I mainly get aggressive and also ride 2 up.
Couple to several times a tank full I will wind it to the higher RPMs through all gears (except fifth;)), yes I have gotten one speeding ticket on it.
I think a lot of interstate riding or heavy city riding is where you see the mpg loss and I do neither.
The mileage listed in my earlier post is after the throttle body replacement and I assume firmware update, before I was getting in the low 30s and every now and then getting a little above 33 mpg.

Hmmmm

"...I average just under 30 now but I ride quite spirited..."

Wonder what the CDC would have to say about this spirited riding business? Sorry couldn't resist....;)

I just had my best mileage ever. 33 mpg. Went 172.8 miles and it took 5.2 gals to fill. I was down to zero bars. Based on the 33 mpg, I could have went 198 miles if I chose to run on fumes and put in 6 gals.
