• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Gas Cap

I haven't got anything to add. I woke up this morning and I hit the "What's New?" button. Out of the 8 threads that popped up, 3 were about "Gas Cap".
Three being an odd number, that bothered my sense of symmetry, so I started this thread just to make it an even four.

:yikes:

Gas Cap - Recall

A little off topic but I received a package from BRP today.

Opened it up to find a replacement gas cap with recall notice stating that the original gas cap seals were defective and fumes were escaping and were a danger of ignition.

I have a 2012 RT-S and live in Alberta Canada, so I expect a lot of people should be seeing packages in the mail shortly.

We got the new replacement cap for the 2012 RT Limited. Put on immediately. Tuesday, I had the bike out on a ride and filled the tank as usual. Rode the 20 miles home, put the bike in the garage and went in the house. An hour later, went in the garage for something and had to open the garage door. The gas fumes were so strong, I immediately got a headache. Have never had that problem before.

I'm sure that you noticed that it takes a bit more effort to tighten the new cap down fully...
Are you sure that you got it completely tight?

(Sorry; for what must appear to be a stupid question...)

So if I started a 5th thread to ask, why the gas cap is so important, would that be upsetting or would you just create another thread to make it even again?

Trust Me Bob

i got a "check engine" light on my Suburu WRX when I first got it. The dealer suspected a loose gas cap. Ended up being a defective cap. Since then, I always tighten all gas caps very tight.

i click the cap at least 3-4 times but yet the gas seems to escape somehow cause when i get home the tank is empty after a 150 mi and i say to the spyder what did you do to all that gas i just put in there? his reply was:dontknow:. then i yell you think gas grows on trees.
