• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Gas Cap?

New member
At a recent visit to a dealer in St. Petersburg,FL one of the"service advisors" was doing a routine check of my "new to me" 2012RT. He mentioned that there was a factory recall on my Spyder for a new gas cap. It seems the original, which is still on my tryke had a problem with design that allowed gas fumes to escape & had a potential for fire. He said he would check his stock to see if they had one. As what usually happens they didn't have the new type gas cap in stock. He did say that I can go to any dealer, anywhere, and request the new type at no cost to me.Is anyone here familiar with this"recall?" I called my local dealer and he said that all the defective caps "should have been replaced by now" and he wouldn't supply me with one, and, they didn't have any in stock anyway. Anybody else been thru this gas cap song & dance? Thanks

I've read about gas fume complaints on the older bikes. No issues with my 2015.

Here's the thing....

BRP mailed out the new cap to all registered spyder owners. If the original owner got it but did not change it then he many still have it. You should be able to get in touch with brp and have them send you one if you explain you got your spyder used and the change was not made....:gaah:

NEW GAS CAP ---- BS FIX

IMHO if you have FUMES the new cap won't fix it ..... this was an attempt by BRP that really didn't work...... the problem actually was the way the lines to / from the gas tank and EVAP canister were routed .... If the Cannister became CONTAMINATED with gas it's going to smell until it evaporates ( this could take a long time ). Many folks here either took the Canister off completely or did a re-route of one of the lines ( I went this route ) ....... the techs at your Dealer may not remember this issue/fix it was along time ago ........ good luck .... Tomline,
Your local dealer wouldn't replace it?? :dontknow:
Tell him that he's full of crap, and demand one! If he balks: let him remove the cap from your bike, and have him show you exactly how they have all been replaced...

If you're not having any problems with fumes: it won't make a difference. What it WILL do: give you a bit larger surface area for twisting the cap off...
