• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Gargarge Remote via Momentary Button

Thanks to all the fellow SL members who have done this mod and posted their ideas of how to do it. There were different variations and locations posted and I opted to locate the button on the speaker grille with the remote velcro'd within the speaker cavity. The speaker grille is easy enough to remove if I need access to the remote.

Look good! I was going to try the same thing but did not find the two legs of the switch to tap onto. I may have to go back and try this again.

I did this months ago, but the momentary button is in one of the "blanks" on my console and the remote is under the seat. Still, a great mod that I'd definitely do again.

Yours was one of the first post I read concerning this mod. So my thanks goes out to you.

where did you get your remote? I have one of the older doors that you have to set the dip switches to make it work with the door. I'm not sure if I can get a new one that will work with my door.

Is your remote waterproof or have you bagged it or simular?

Neither the remote or button are waterproof. The remote is tucked under the hood dash so I dont think that will be a issue. I'm more concerned about the button. I may have to boot something around the leads.

I looked at my RS and really didn't see a good place to put it. I might have to investigate further.;)

Cant remember who did it but I did see someone also placed their remote within a RS speaker cavity and located the button just near the speaker. Do a search here on Garage Remotes.

I had to order a keychain remote just because its smaller and lighter for easier placement.

You'd have to look up your garage manufacter to see if they offer a updated remote.

My remote is a updated version. The original is not sold anymore.

I would love to do this on my RS. how did you wire that to the remote? I really coudn't tell from that first picture.

I wanted to solder the connection to the back of the board but with my novice soldering skills I thought twice and decided there was more room at the contact legs of the remote button.

I did the same. Just soldered on the front of the board. Was easier.
I picked up a keychain remote at home depot.

Any remote that works with your garage will work. Dip switches or no. Just solder the wire to the button that opens the door. Trick is finding a place to stash the remote.

remote location

i followed cundiffla's formula. mounted button in a vent hole on right side of console, mounted remote on a bracket that is behind the vent, in the dash. this will require removing the inst. cluster to gain access to the space, but it's all pretty easy to do. i used the industrial velcro to mount the remote, great stuff, worth every penny. it's all in the my mods section. good luck with it.ps you can buy ''old style'' remotes. i last got one at home depot. i think it was 29 bucks. we have a thirty ye ar old genie that still runs great.

Garage remote

Why not get one of those keychain remotes and use some double-stick tape? Mine works wonderfully well underneath the handlebars.

Look Ma, no holes!
