• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Garage door opener

Any ideas out there about where to put or attach a Garage Door opener? I was thinking about Velro or some kind of Neoprene pouch. What have you guys tried that is fairly simple?

I used velcro to attach one to the tank of a bike. Unfortunately, most garage door openers are not waterproof, and this one did not take kindly to the occasional rain it was subjected to - it just refused to work anymore.

Garage Door Opener Solution

Hey Star Cruiser,

What I did was take my garage door opener, soldered two wires from the door opener to an interrupt switch. Took out the instruments cluster and drilled a small hole to insert the switch. Secured the door open behind the instrument cluster. It works great and looks very clean. If this interests you, I'll snap a couple of photos of my setup.

Regards,
Stanley

Did the same as StanTheMan posted. Just takes a small amount of time and looks real neat. Just use a normally open/ momentary close switch on dash pnl. :ohyea:

Clip it on

If you have the belt/visor clip on your remote, just clip it to the edge of the dash, right over where the warning card slides out. The button will be accessible even wit heavy gloves and the remote is protected from the elements by the windshield.

We just put one in our jacket pocket when we go out.

:agree: I bought an extra universal xmitter and it lives in the pocket of my riding jacket. I just reach down and squeeze it right thru the jacket and gloves. Never overlook the simplest answer. ;)

I drilled a small hole in my opener and soldered a wire to the contact switch where it connect to the circuit board . Installed a interrupt switch on the dash and ran the wires down where I velcroed the switch close to the water reservoir.
Operner next to resvoir.

I velcroed mine to them flat surface on the underside of the handlebar on the right side. Out of sight and out of the weather and has worked fine for over a year.

Have a 2010 RT SE5 and I just put the GDO in the small glove box below the handle bars. Just open the glove box and press the button. Keeps it out of the weather and out of sight when bike is parked.
