• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Game On- Trip across America

Unfortunately I won't be riding with Fred Rau as planned but I'll still be riding. I may take off this weekend or I may wait till Monday and ride with BajaRon seeing he said he would ride as far as Oklahoma with me. From there he would split off and head to Kansas to see his Dad and brother.

All the stars were aligned and I was able to get BRP to hook me up with a hitch to tow my trailer. They took it one step further and hooked me up with a trailer too. I'm a happy guy now seeing I've been towing a trailer for all my long trips for quite some time now. I get to put this RT trailer to the test. I can tell you this, that sucker is pretty big inside and it looks great behind the RT.

The guys at East TN ATV are the ones that helped make this all possible. They have a good stock of Spyder parts and they had a RT hitch in stock. They gave me their demo trailer for the trip and BRP will be replacing that for them. I thought that was pretty cool of them to do that for me seeing it will be a week or two before they get their replacement trailer.

I worked with Mike on installing the hitch and all and all that went pretty good. You do have to remove quite a bit of plastic to get the wiring harness in place but it wasn't too bad. It's a pretty tight package and you got to give BRP props for offering a trailer package to start with. They are the only manufacture I know of that has an approve trailer and hitch package.

While I was there I had them make a spare key for the RT seeing I only had the one. That turned out to be a chore but part of the problem was us understanding what was needed to be done. Some of the steps are not that clear and it sure isn't as easy as it was on the RS. After taking a few shots at it I now have two good working keys.

When I sent the RT back for upgrades I sent the lock barrel with it. The barrel that goes with that RT didn't make it back so Jason robbed the one out of his RT and gave it to me. They really did go out of their way to help me today. I would highly recommend this dealership for sales or service. It's not a big shop but it's a quality shop for sure.

Here's a little video of East TN ATV in Elizabethton

:thumbup::thumbup: I got my first look at the RT-622 trailer this week. You are right, it is a cavern! Very deep, tiny wheel well cutouts...loads of room. I got a kick out of the emergency lid release in case you lock yourself inside. That possibility is probably a reality for a short person like my wife...no joke. I thought coated safety cables, instead of chains that could scratch, were a good idea, too. Not sure why they converted the backup lights to secondary turn signals, since the trailer module and the tongue harness both have the backup light wiring, but you should certainly be able to spot this thing turning that way. Very thoughful use of 3M protective film on the chip prone areas, too. All in all, an A-1 effort at a great price. Don't forget the Scam-Now, though! :roflblack:

The lid has a real nice feel to it, very heavy duty. I saw that strap and couldn't figure out what it was at first but that saves me from putting one on. I can see me taking a catnap in that thing on some of my long trips. I've done it before in my Bushtec. nojoke

The lid dumping water in the trailer if you don't wipe it down is a bummer. I would say this would have been a 10 if it were not for that. As it is I would say it's a 8-9 on function but a 10 on looks. :doorag:

That is great news Lamont. Congrats on the new trailer. Glad to hear Ron will give you some company on the way as well. I hope you have a great trip, and ryde safe.

I was shocked at how thick the lids were, yet so easy to open. Should be incredibly durable.....and quieter for you to sleep in, too. :roflblack: A agree on your ratings. The self-dumping lid is the only serious drawback.

can't play video, it says it is a private video, anyhow I was curious, are the wheels on the timeless black smoked and on the Blue Rt they are a brighter chrome?

when you go to order a spare tire for the trailer it asks this question.

Video should be fixed.

I'm not sure on the wheels to be honest. I think they are all the same. :dontknow:

Us Houston folks were disappointed about your developments in not being able to accompany Fred on his ride through here. We had a great time with him however. Is your ride route coming close to the Houston area?

I have to agree with you on this trailer beeing a beautiful unit. I got to see my first one today here in Tucson, at Ride Now Powersports. This is really a nice unit and big. I have a bushtec, and love it, but I have to say, this is an impressive trailer.

Did they do anything with your clutch?
We changed out the clutch last week. So far so good. :doorag:

Sorry it didn't workout but I felt very strongly about being with my partner in his time of need. I'm glad I went.

As it stands right now I decided to head west in the morning but I'll be on 40 most of the way so I won't be stopping in. Maybe on the way back I can work something out. Glad you got to meet Fred, he's a great guy.

I love my Bushtec too, I have over 50,000 trouble free miles on it.

Do you have to license MC trailers?
Yes and no. In TN I can use it without a trailer license but as soon as you leave the state you need a license. I have a temp license on this trailer right now.
