• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I know this has been done to death on other sites, but I cannot find any info on helmets on this site.
On my 2 wheels I wore mostly full face helmets, but on spyder I have been wearing beanie style.
I would love to know what others wear and why.
I am debating on going back to ff

I wear a fullface for 2 reasons. 1) for the protection. 2) I have a scala rider g4 and I like to listen to the radio and there is to much noise with the half helmet. :)

3/4 HJC
3/4 Shoei
full face Shoei
and a little one for store rides that barley covers my ears, well almost anyway

 You just kicked the :cus: pile over! :roflblack:
But I wear a full-face modular helmet...
ATGATT!

Good grief Bob. it just keeps comin"!

All kidding aside. I love the 3/4 with the flip down shield for the hot weather. Full face for everything else including warmth and protection. Remember, a full face will offer more protection in the event someone pulls out in front of you or u hit something kissing the handlebars or windshield. There's been many a folks that have needed major dental and/or facial reconstruction :yikes: from kissing the handlebars or something else with their face. A shield does nothing to protect you from that.

I always wear a Full Face. Too many years in the fire service to wear anything else. Go to a few motorcycle down calls and you'll be wearing one too... :ohyea:

FULL OR 3/4 FACE

I wear either a full face or a 3/4 face helmet determined by the weather for protection. I never wear a beanie or skid. Why? Because people who know a lot more than I do have told me that you get more protection from a beanie or skid sitting on a shelf than you do with one sitting on your head.

I am a firefighter/EMT and live 1/4 mile from a biker bar. Not 100 yards from my house is a 25 mph "S" curve. I see my fair share of bikes bounce off the guardrail, low-side, fly into the creek, and high-side into the trees. I do not call them Beanies, I call them "Brain Buckets". Even if you do hit hard enough to sustain a head injury with a full face helmet, leaving the helmet on can reduce the swelling and/or bleeding in your brain. This will give you a much better chance of, not only surviving the wreck, but also not being a vegetable afterwords. I ride with a full face helmet, all the time.

Just sayin'.................

I wore a three quarter helmet, (and glad I did) but will be buying a full face type. Had a head on car crash on my two wheeler, the three quarter now needs to be replaced.

Half helmet, with tinted pop down shield & cold weather muffs. Comfortable, not too hot & I can hear my bike & tunes. Don't care what others think.

Nolan N 43 is a good alternative. You can use the removable chin bar or not. I always hope that "today, is not going to be the day". For long rides, I use my full face.

I am a ATGATT proponent also.

Aria RX Q - FF. Flows all the air you need, the fit is out of this world and you can hear your tunes at any speed.

BajaRon once posted a picture that showed where the impacts land to a helmet when you're on the wrong end of the "Oh crap" stick... :yikes:
Maybe he'll throw that up here again...

I wear a 3/4 helmet for protection and comfort. I like having a shield to cover my face when it rains or gets dark (bugs)! I like the sun protection. I fear beanies will come off in a wreck.

It's pretty well documented that the majority of head impacts during motorcycle accidents are to the side jaw area of the head/face.
With that being said, I wear a full face for the majority of my riding. A full face also makes it nice for my helmet tunes. However, I do have a beanie that I wear to run down to the store, get gas, etc etc.....

We hope that our members will learn from the unfortunate situations of other and turn them to a positive one:yes:. I wear 3/4. Did anybody knows why they called them brain bucket on beenies?,answer: they used these beenies to scoop deck fatalities brain off aircraft carrier flight deck. .

Choosing what helmet to wear should be more for protection not for looks or trend. Ride safe to all and God Bless us all:pray::pray:

Let's see..!!

We wear HJC modular helmets. Safety for the intercom etc. Advantage as we see it is in town slower riding you can have the face section up like a 3/4 helmet and on faster freeway and bad weather you have the full face still with the pop up shield. Works best for us...
