The General Altimax HP 185/60/14 or if you want something a little narrower the Altimax RT 175/65/14. I prefer the HP. it is a directional tire, about the same diameter, but 3/4" wider, needs a simple fender adjustment and way cool looking with a 440AA rating and load/speed rating of 82H. This one is in stock and anything else a day away.Ron,
What tires would your Son be suggesting for up front?
Don't know what tire you are running or how good of shape it is in, but its important to have a tire that has a good rating against hydroplaning and a good wet traction rating. Any tire will hydroplane in certain conditions. It is up to the driver to recognize these conditions and use good judgment and slow up.Driving home in hard rain yesterday noticed when hitting deeper areas, front tended to wobble almost like a shimmy, anyone think narrower tires might help that? Don't like driving in rain, rare in cent tx, but only trans leaves no choice:dontknow:
Narrower tires would be dangerous, IMO. Less cornering traction, and you could end up with the VSS not working properly when you need it. What you felt was probably the rear losing traction, anywaay. Tha is when the nanny (VSS) kicks in as it is supposed to. BTW, tire diameter is crucial to the Spyder. Get the front to back ratio off by much and your Spyder will go into limp mode. Slow down in the hard rain, and go easy on the throttle. The owner's manual warns about riding in the rain and hydroplaning for a reason.Driving home in hard rain yesterday noticed when hitting deeper areas, front tended to wobble almost like a shimmy, anyone think narrower tires might help that?
