There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Front storage switch

I have a Spyder RT -S which I collected on Saturday

The dealer said they could not get the Front Strorage Switch to function

Front storage switch

This switch when pressed should release the Front cover compartment latch allowng the storage cover to open

The dealer was not sure if this swiched has been disabled for UK Models Possible removal of a Fuse/Relay ect on Safety grounds as the door could become unlatched with the engine running and if it was switched on accidently when in motion it may allow the door to open

Has anyone with the Spyder RT have this switch fitted and working and if it was not before what's been done to make it work
and could it be as my dealer suspects a safety issue on UK/European models only

Any information useful

Front Trunk switch

You don't say in your post if you tried it with the engine running.

The switch only works with the engine running, so give it a try.

First, the engine must be running for the switch to function. Second, the latch must be properly adjusted. Many were set to tight from the factory, making the front cargo compartment latch stick when released via the switch. Lubricating the latch also helps. Finally, there have been a few reports of improperly wired switches. Have your dealer check the wiring and the switch to see that the wires are on the proper terminals. Another clue to that would be a cargo light that fails to operate after the compartment is opened and the engine is running.

Your dealer should be able to troubleshoot and remedy this problem. If not, try to find another dealer. This type of problem is simple...Motorcycle Mechanics 101.

Front Cargo Release Switch

This is a warranty item. Just have your dealer order the switch assembly. It is about a five minute install.

You might want to pull the service cover (on your left looking from the front of the bike) under the front trunk hood, and see if the switch still has the actuator switch bar. It is very easy to knock it off the switch housing when removing the cover for service. I think there is actually a warning stamped on the cover, but the arm can easily fall off the switch when removing this cover. Just a thought, because it happened to me after my first dealer service and we had to replace the switch. Just thought I would pass this experience along after mine fell off and disappeared

When you're opening the "frunk" with the key, is it taking an awful lot of force to twist the key in thw switch? Mine is adjusted on the tight side, and even though the electric switch works just fine, twisting the key sometimes gets me worried about it breaking off in the switch...

Lubricating the latch helps a bit. The adjustment probably will not, as this is a bearclaw latch. Lubricating the cable would be best, but it is a gargantuan chore. Mine was stiff, too. I made sure I notified the dealer, as a warranty issue. That way if there was a later failure or broken key, I could say "I told you so!"

:agree:
My trunk wouldn't open with the switch after I had some work done on it and it turned out that it just needed a little tweak to get the switch to work. :doorag:

I bought my 2010 RTS in July, and while the switch worked fine when the dealer tried it, 700 miles away when I got home, not only would that not open , but, the seat would not open so I could not access the gas tank. After having the bike in the shop for 5 weeks, due to recalls of the steering, harness wiring, they decided that the cables were the reason that the front storage and seat would not open.Needless to say, I missed out on all the good fall riding, now it is winter, and I am looking for some warm riding gear, so I can say , What a great bike I have????:gaah:
